Regarding https://blog.beamng.com/ui-sneak-peek/ . . . probably way too late to bring this up, but: I am not a gamer. BeamNG is basically all I play, though I have overcome brief addictions to first-person shooters previously. Yet now I sit before my USB steering wheel pondering a game-ready video card. . . unprecedented! While I can certainly understand the technical reasons for wanting a new UI, I just had to register and comment that the garage, noted as a sort of preview of things to come UI-wise, is virtually incomprehensible in 0.12. I use the slower main UI to make changes. I find the time trials similarly unusable. The old UI layout may feel clunky or old-fashioned, and there may be difficulties in laying things out in an orderly fashion, but the menu format is far and away more accessible and logical than the ribbon-esque splotches of randomness that are so popular now among UI designers at large these days. Of course, it is a fantastic game and I am well-hooked now, meaning I will muddle through whatever you do, but the readily-accessible old UI with zero learning curve was one of the selling points of the game. I'd hate to see someone else give up on it when they can't figure out how to change something simple. Thanks for reading.
Please note the garage UI is very 'experimental'. It's not a preview on the new UI, aside from the similar look. It is going to be changed and improved along with UI2 and all the feedback we got from it.
Also, you’re gonna be able to switch back and forth between the old and new UI until it is fully released.
I think that it was mentioned in presentation video that there would be possibility to switch between old and new.
