Current Version: Beta 3.4 So I started working on a terrain a while ago, then deleted it and started again, then lost it in a SSD failure, then started again. I've decided it's time for me to show some progress, as I plan to release it for all to enjoy once I'm done with it I love tricky offroad/crawler/mountain style maps, so figured why not have a shot at it myself, starting from scratch. I'll be working on it as much as I can, but please forgive me if progress is slow at first as I have exams for my degree coming up! I would highly recommend downloading DrowsySam's DSC Scarab, as it makes some parts of the map much easier to overcome. The AWD AWS version is probably best. That said, it is possible to do it all in the Gavril D-Series Offroad I've attached some screenshots early development screenshots. I have now fixed the terrain glitch. Constructive criticism and suggestions would be appreciated! I will be uploading a new version towards the end of each week, but will post progress updates throughout. See progress updates below. PLEASE - Do not re-upload this. If you want to modify it, please do so but ask me beforehand! Short preview video: Changelog was getting messy, so I've moved the full one here: http://www.terminalvelocitystudios.co.uk/motsychangelog.html UPDATE 19/3/14 -Beta 3.4: Updated: Slightly increased light levels. Removed: Unused blank texture. Issue: Random holes in terrain Uploaded In next release/working on: Updated preview image. Further roads. Smooth, basic dirt track. Fixed terrain holes. Further lighting adjustments. Other objects (industrial materials etc). To do list: -Finish main roads. -Finish minor tracks. -Add a few buildings, maybe only at the starting area. -Update video.
Re: Motsy - Mountainous Offroad Style Map [Beta 2] I love the map! I see theres a lot of potential for it thats for sure, especially if you keep building in the same style. The only thing i have to say is (1) there is no texture on the mud, I ended up adding in my own (2) there is almost too much mud, it can make it really hard to get around even in modded offroad vheicles! (3) I would love to see some small, one lane off road tracks, kinda like the ones found in the Woods Point V3 map, those would make it awesome... I have found some of your appearing to be WIP roads that arent connected to anything, and they are looking really awesome!! I hope to see more added on this map is going great!!
Re: Motsy - Mountainous Offroad Style Map [Beta 2] Thanks for the great feedback! Regarding the no mud textures, are you using the Beta_2 or Beta_2b version? I thought I had fixed it in this 2b, if not, I shall have another look. When you say too much mud - do you mean the amount of mod on the map or the depth of the mud? Either way, I shall alter it I plan on adding many tight, winding tracks in the future - I am just currently laying down the main routes and once finished will work on to the smaller tracks. Thanks again for the feedback and the compliments, they really are appreciated!
Re: Motsy - Mountainous Offroad Style Map [Beta 2] I'm using the 2b version, it must have not saved the mud or something With the too much mud I was referring to that it's on too many roads I thought... The depth was fine though! I'm really exited to see some of these smaller roads, especially if the current ones are considered main roads!!!
Re: Motsy - Mountainous Offroad Style Map [Beta 2] I'll have a look at the mud again, must have just not saved it! I'll lessen the mud content, but glad to know the depth seems fine. Hopefully I will get a new version up for everyone this weekend.
Re: Motsy - Mountainous Offroad Style Map [Beta 3b] Beta 3b is now available. Sorry for the late update, I have had exams this past week. Slower progress so far, just a couple of minor additions as well as a custom sky and a permanent (I hope) fix for the terrain wall. Also, I would like people's opinions on this sky and the lighting colours. If you'd rather standard daylight, hit F11 to open up the editor and change the 'tod' settings for 'time' back to 0.1. Enjoy!
Re: Motsy - Mountainous Offroad Style Map [Beta 3b] A couple of the ground materials are still missing. Have a look at art/terrains/materials.cs and move any materials you've made to this level's folder. That should make the mud parts easier to drive, now they are more like driving in tar since the groundmodel is not right. Disabling shapesCastShadows in grasscover doubles my frame rate in grassy areas and even looks better, since grass shadows flicker. Lighting looks a bit weird, but at least it's more interesting than the usual white light. Shouldn't it be much darker if it's meant to be moonlight? A bit of haze would be nice. Try for example visibleDistance 1500, fogDensity 0.0005, fogDensityOffset 0 and fogAtmosphereHeight 1500, in theLevelInfo. Some hills are too steep to climb with realistic grip.
Re: Motsy - Mountainous Offroad Style Map [Beta 3b] Thank you very much for the tips, I really appreciate it. Learning everything as I go, and details like these definitely help! I'll have a go through stuff now EDIT: Just noticed the enitre skybox seems to be missing. Supposed to be a sunset there. Should have noticed from the reduced file size!
Re: Motsy - Mountainous Offroad Style Map [Beta 3c] If someone could check textures/sky box for me and let me know if it's working that'd be great Sent from my GT-I9295 using Tapatalk
Re: Motsy - Mountainous Offroad Style Map [Beta 3c] Ground textures and skybox work. The lighting makes more sense with that skybox, maybe a bit too dark now unless you use a car with good lights. There's still one missing ground material that seems to be unused, so you can delete that layer.
Re: Motsy - Mountainous Offroad Style Map [Beta 3c] Okay thanks, I will remove this and then slightly increase light levels. Thank you for your help! Sent from my GT-I9295 using Tapatalk
It's nice to see the amount of progress you've made. I'd be lying if I said this wasn't one of my favourite maps! Those views are quite satisfying after conquering (and nearly failing multiple times) some of those roads, lol. They remind me a little bit of where I live (washington state)...nevertheless...keep up the great work!
Thank you for the feedback! It's great to know people are enjoying it. I've been making some more progress with the tracks, so there should soon be some more challenges for you to conquer!
Apologies for the lack of updates guys! I've not been able to do as much as I had been previously but will post an update in the next few days Sent from my GT-I9295 using Tapatalk
