lots more work on the ETK today. it now has a proper body on it, but it needs a substantial amount of optimization. it also has an interior now, which is mostly done. not sure how i want the gauges, but i messed around with it a bit. drivetrain seems pretty much finished. still needs some performance parts, but all the stock stuff is there i'm mostly sure. besides the random crap in the engine bay (abs, battery, etc.). i may put that stuff in the front with the radiator and fuel tank, but the goal of this car is to have as much storage space as possible in a small and maneuverable hatchback, so i'd like to make the frunk as big as possible (the rear trunk will have a fairly shallow floor, due to the engine being underneath it.).
It's rear-engined, and comes with a diesel engine. I wonder if you would have the same complaints if it wasn't a VW?
Why so negative? He's working on a full car made from scratch in his own time and all you can do is complain. The car looks excellent.
I do have a complaint - the ETK brand is too luxurious for a minicar - but like the concept of merging the Up design with a different layout.
yeah I'd agree with you there since etk is basically bmw, audi and a bit of Mercedes, but yeah I like the design, it's a bit like a Twingo (mk3) mixed with the Up
It is basically the Up! Concept which was in fact Rear engined Rear wheel drive. I'm not saying that his not doing a good job, all I'm saying that I'm nit a fan of straight up copying real life brand and just throwing it under some BeamNg brand. IMO he should get rid of all of the Main design elements that tell you that it is straight up VW UP and replace them with combination of different things. Like let's say combine the rear end of an old toyota Aygo, some front end design from the K-series mixed with the twingo and so on. If a car is influenced by the design of other car then fine, but straight up copying different design what else, copying the design of the most boring automakers ever is just lack or any sort of creativity.
even if it would be a straight up renault copy I'd most likely complain, yes I'd complain less, but it would still be just a copy that tries to sneak in into the BeamNG universe brand. The fact it is a German car just means that I don't like it, but that's due to how not creative they are with their cars.
i actually do plan to change up the model a lot, to look a lot more like an ETK than a vw, hence the missing badges and stuff. it's just a lot easier to visualize my progress when it matches up with the blueprints i have. also, bmw does currently make a subcompact/city car. and i do realize that the up! concept was rear-engine rear-drive, but i hadn't learned that before starting this project. i was mainly basing it off of the VW EA266 concept:
But you do know that to make it match the ETK you do have ti remodel all of the bumpers, fenders, lights and a littlebit of the main body would require a redesign to make it look like an ETK and not VW
maybe i'll just vw brand it, i haven't decided, but i would like to attempt to make it resemble an ETK as much as possible first. i guess i'll have to finish doing that, and then ask for people's opinions on it.
use this instead... singleton Material(YOURMATERIAL) { mapTo = "YOURMATERIAL"; specularPower[0] = "25"; translucentBlendOp = "None"; diffuseMap[0] = "vehicles/YOURCAR/black.png"; useAnisotropic[0] = "1"; materialTag0 = "Miscellaneous"; pixelSpecular[0] = "1"; normalMap[0] = "vehicles/YOURCAR/black_n.png"; materialTag2 = "Industrial"; materialTag1 = "vehicle"; };
Aston Martin Cygnet No brand is been too luxurious for a minicar/microcar, if there's money to be made they will do it. Ferrari made a car with back seats and Lamborghini is making an SUV. If you're thinking German brands are somehow better, Mercedes has a whole line of work vehicles. It's not that far-fetched for ETK to have a microcar.
