Nice! It is wonderfully made and feels like I am actually playing GTA SA. If you could in some way make the frame rate better as it expands that would be great but that is the only con of this map. Great work!
San Andreas map size: 36 square kilometers / 13.9 square miles http://gta.wikia.com/San_Andreas_(3D_Universe) Current Drive terrain project (of a friend of mine and me): more than 3 times the size of SanAn - heightmapsize 4096 Resoltion is enough to create smooth mountainous roads. Yes, it is possible - in my opinion.
I think so too, but im afraid it would need thousands of hours to adjust the collision meshes and would probably not even work on most PCs if you dont use LOD meshes too. Because of the performance. Dont get me wrong i love the idea of having the map! Still, this little part is already stuffed with too many collision polygons and most are buggy because of their arrangment to each other, meaning to small distance and angles. The way the collision was set up was just not purposed to be used in T3D and BeamNG.drive, selfcollision and minimum distances/lengths/widths of bodys are aspects that make you car stuck if you dont adjust for them. I think this map uses the visable mesh as collision mesh atm. Some collision shape arangements can request a huge and unreasonable ammount of performance, T3D does not like concave shaped collision bodys for example, from what i saw. Still, good luck with the further work on it!
I don't see how this is any different than a Russian job. He said it was his map in the first post, doesn't say Rockstar made it either in the first post. Yet, because so many people want it, it's considered alright?
Guys stahp, my sides are hurting! Dkutch is right imo. Even when i love this project! In case it is ported directly, credits would not even fix the point Dkutch is speaking about. Not that i would care in any way, rockstar wont suffer hunger as result of this. *shrugs*
That comment right there shows the general state of this community versus others. Have you no respect or pride?
Yes my single opinion shows the general state of this community. Dang im important then i guess... [/sarcasm] I pay for the stuff i use. Just because i dont care for this here, does not mean i would be disrespectful against the work of third people. I just cant do anything against this here, so why would i care? Edit towards post below: If it realy still needed this post of me to enlighten you on this topic you are rather slow m8, sorry to say so. Yet, at least im not the hypocrite here, calling it hate on the one thread while going down on other copyright infrigments in this forum myself.
Now you're insulting me? Weren't you the guy who defended some kid who claimed his parents bought a Veyron? Most weeks, for sure.
Not my intention, just said it took long for you to realize that, thats an opinion, now get off my back please. I tried to state my opinion in a short way after what i got last days, im done here. Edit for hati: I wont let you forbit me to state my opinion to have you afterwards display it as a fault of me for even doing so every frikking time. gtfo yourself plz, it needs two to tango!
Can you manage like 9 seconds without getting into an argument with DrowsySam or Dkutch? You either tick someone off by trying to protect people from criticism or you're going the other way and managing to be disrespectful. Find a middle ground for fuck's sake.
People's opinions on this mod will vary wildly depending on their morals and thoughts regarding the current Copyright law. In my opinion, the current Copyright law is horrendously outdated and restrictive, so I, along with many others, tend to ignore it most of the time and do what we want with the software we own, steam music from unofficial sources etc. Here's where morality comes in, however. I don't steal things because I believe that stealing things is wrong, and rightfully so, but conversions like this are in a weird grey area where it isn't really stealing, as only a negligible amount of SA's content is included, but enjoying similar content on a completely different platform. Maybe you like the SA map and want to explore it, but you hate everything about GTA SA from the physics to the lighting and draw distance, and want to experience it on a more modern engine with more fulfilling physics? Is that bad or morally wrong? It's when you get conversions of near full games when it gets to the immoral side of things, but this is insignificant. Onto the subject of crediting the authors. If I had my way, every developer who contributed to this area of the map would be credited as opposed to the blanket term of "Rockstar games" which doesn't even cover people who developed the map, but are no longer at the company. Twenty one year old Dave Daveson does not deserve credit for something that was created many years ago before he joined the company or even turned 18. I do believe that if you want to use this terrain, you should buy GTA SA so that you have actually paid for this content, but that can't exactly be enforced easily and is sort of pointless for this amount of content. TL;DR: Copyright sucks, get some morals, but don't be stupidly strict about them. I am allowed to download a DOS game free from a shady website without getting arrested thank you very much.
I wonder why there's still a lack of quality, stand alone mods? Why use effort on originality when others already have? See: Russian mod The fact no one cares that he claimed it as his own, aka he made it, is just silly.
