This is my first 3D project and I just recently started to get the hang of modeling in Blender a few days ago. The design is originally based off of a Hot Wheels car model called Roll Cage. There is a certain amount of detail that I can pick up by looking at the actual car toy so I'll end up making up the specifics as I go. I never 3D modeled before so this is my first run. I am planning to model everything and then get down to coding the jbeams and what not, I may ask for help if I can't learn it and do it on my own. Hope to get some pointers to make this thing rival DCS's Scarab!! :p

Update: Finished modeling some basic looking rims to get this thing up and running quick! :p

    Nice idea!
But to rival the Scarab it would need quite some suspension travel, which i cant see on that one yet. :/
The scarab can survive two laps on my MX Backyard map, taking minimal or no damage at all. Would of course be happy to see it with a nice suspension later. Good luck.
Can you Jbeam, or do you learn that after modeling?

Thanks Ace!! And NK you are right about the suspension. I have been pondering how to make it look strong and professional. That system has always fascinated me when I look at the underside of a vehicle. I hope to make one that is very impressive. Also I hope to learn to code jbeam after I model this badboy. :)

Your modeling looks great so far, so well done!

Judging by the lower ride height of this buggy, i think it would be better off as a track raging buggy, which could be used for things like rally and autocross when fitted with rally tyres. By that I mean have less suspension travel and better handling characteristics.

This is great. You guys are giving me a lot of ideas on how I would want the suspension to be. I will play with the wheel base, height and all that after I get most of the body done. That will be the fun part!

the sacrab is more of a offroad vehicle, isn't it? the hotwheels rollcage car looks more of a race car to me. i might be wrong though.

Yeah the Scarab is totally rough terrain based. After all the toy car leaves so much room for creativity in areas such as suspension, engine type (but i can tell it has 8 cylinders) and everything else we can't see. So I might just ask everyone's help in gathering or making up specs for this beast. And of course anything can roll with this project.

Wow! I would love to see a hot wheels car in the game! But I wish you did another one: The 2014 Loop Coupe treasure hunt. That would look awesome in the game!

You could always go with horizontal mounted shocks on the front.

And as for the offroad capability it looks alot more like a dirt-track racer / rally car than a rock-cralwer or jumping car.
