Me and @fufsgfen prayers have been answered!
Begone low resolution, low detail engines straight from 2013!

The turbo diesal is also extremely cool, great to finally see one outside the T-series.

Well, atleast they're finally improving some models now to make the older cars have more detail to them.

Holy shit... I was only joking! How about that.

For those of you lamenting the slow speed of content creation, lack of variety and low quality of mods, here are some reassurances: First, as for the AB, don't let its small size fool you - it is likely the most ambitious car in the BeamNG universe, owing to its long production time and multiple facelifts and engines. Second, keep in mind, all cars originally promised, including the Wendover and Bluebuck, will make it into the game before version 1.0. Plus, the devs have stated on multiple occasions that they will continue to add new cars and maps after version 1.0. Finally, as for mods, something I have noticed is that the quality of mods tends to rise sharply after a content update, then declines steadily until the next one. After a content update, we get body variants (with properly normal-mapped panel gaps), custom parts and other such things. As the time between content releases drags on, that's when we get mesh slaps. The cycle starts over when the next car gets added.

One thing I would like to see (hear, to be more precise) is louder idle sounds. At the moment, they are barely audible, even in muscle cars like the Barstow. Also, I think the Grand Marshal Sport should be further differentiated into a more Impala SS-like car - specifically, with a less generic name, the big engine from the police car, and wheels that look more like a factory option. Maybe, since the Barstow had a RoadSport option, it should be called the Grand Marshal RoadSport?

hopefully we'll get proper sounds for the etk diesels when the gavril ones come out. they said they're still working on sounds and physics, and i seriously doubt they'd ignore the existing diesel engines when adding a more up-to-date diesel engine into the game.

I don't want to sound rude, but some engines were quite early 2000's look at 2013, Gavril V8 is not actually worst as it has been redone, but look at engine if Ibishu 200BX, I think SLRR had more detail? :D

However at early development they probably did not quite understand T3D as well as they understand it today, for example polycounts have been so long dominating performance optimizing that even some AAA titles have had lower visual quality thanks to polycount minisizing where as focusing on optimizing materials and textures / UV maps, would of been providing better results.

This era there is also great increase in amount of VRAM, which helps a lot, they have so much development time ahead of them that they probably can lift up minimun vram requirements to 3GB or maybe even more. That is possible because of early access alpha title, they are allowed to change hardware requirements.

Also it is clear that they have some cool stuff coming to game engine in terms of graphical performance as they can put new map to engine alone.

It has been quite limiting up until 0.13 that to avoid bottlenecking the CPU single core one needs to keep material count really low as possible. Especially with maps that has been one bummer as it is not only things front of you that has been affecting this, stuff behind you has been also been added to queue and somewhere there is where CPU intensity comes from, not so much from physics at 0.13 anymore.

It really looks great that they are updating old content, I hope they do away with light textures in older vehicles too as those are very much what make vehicles look bit LD instead of HD.

Kinda funny actually that car's body is not quite so important than what is headlight and tail light textures, leave lights off and suddenly Barstow looks much higher detailed, that is at least how my eye works :p

It all is really moving to good direction, what I'm curious to see if some of performance optimizations will make to next update, or will those happen update after that.

There is also chance that update after next is coming before March as was indicated by Nadeox earlier this thread.

So next update comes at next week at Friday around midnight Germany's time and update after that is 21.12. or January, however if world fails to be perfect, update containing Italy might come as late as February.
I would be surprised if it has to be waited until March, that would be 5 months and certainly update after next will come earlier than that. 2 months might be bit short, but it depends a bit, if they have just polishing stability etc. left to do, then it might be possible, definitely Christmas themed update would be good, but TBH it is bit short time to that.
Then again it might been that next update has been 'ready' for several weeks now, only being in testing and most of work has been already in update after next for 2 weeks or more, which might be enough time for Christmas update.

All in all, this and next year is really moving BeamNG forward, while some might not think Automation update much, it has been really good for game I think more and more talented modders are finding BeamNG, engine becoming less limiting of what kind of maps you can make without lagging a lot is going to be really good thing and while not directly being 'content', it does result content in form of mods.

Most talented mappers don't like to be constrained by performance or by tools crashing all the time, they spend time to something else instead as time is always so limited, improvements on those areas are what help people decide to put that massive amount of their time to build quality content, if you are limited to 2km by 2km and editor crashes several times when you are working on map, making you redo same spot all over again, then it reduces amount of quality content.

So even if there is no directly new car or map, indirectly updates can improve things that allow modders make more dev quality stuff.

I was specifically referencing the 2013 age of beamng, rather then the 2013 year in game design as a hole.

i'd rather see a redesign of that engine than the 8. imo, the current gavril v8 is one of the most detailed engines in the game, besides maybe the hopper or the bus. it has so many wires and stuff! but the 6 is just pitiful, especially in comparison

the i6 is only used in 3 vehicle configs (and not even available for the GM), whereas the v8 is used in over 45. Priorities. Plus, even the i6 will look better with those ugly wires and tubes gone.

The replacement of the old wiring and fluid reservoirs already make the I6 look impressively better.

I kind of wonder if the development of the Bluebuck will eventually lead to similar improvements to the V8 engines currently available in the Barstow.

Are you revamping more than just the engines? Many of the vehicles need overhauls imho, things like the pickup could be redone from top to bottom. Also I know that nadeox said it was extremely unlikely but things like the burnside, grand marshall, etk 800, etc are begging for more body styles, ie wagons, coupe, sedan. From what asking around I have done this seems to be something a vast majority of consumers want too, I mean new cars are great and all but I would almost say I personally would want more of the old stock revamped.

adding onto that, what about things like separating the headlights from the fascia on the covet/d series/h series/moonhawk, as well as properly texturing the moonhawk's grille?

Understandable that some of you are not happy about that news.

This additional time will help us to work on the performance of the new map, which AFAIK is the biggest/most populated map yet (you thought WCUSA was big uh? :D)

Also we might have been unclear about this 'Halloween' themed update.
The past Halloween we did not release an update, but a simple mod with Halloween themed changes (ie. seasonal event).
This year there is an update with stuff with other kind of new goodies for the game itself alongside \o/

Also please be careful at believing speculations about next update's date ;)

    edit: engrish and rephrasing

Which news? (There really isn't much to be unhappy about, when you think about it!)

Also, @B25Mitch was so kind as to document the design process for BeamNG engines. Maybe someone could mod in their own I6 model until the devs have time to make one themselves?

    Aaaaand another conspiracy theory:
@Nadeox1 placed emphasis on the word "speculations" in the post above, advising us to be careful about believing them.
"Speculation", "spooky" and "Soliad" all begin with S.
It has been speculated that the Soliad Wendover has been cancelled.
The Soliad Wendover is sometimes said to be dead.
    Zombies are spooky.
    Zombies rise from the dead.
The Soliad Wendover will rise from the dead in the next update.

Hey, I was right about the engine, so... two for two?!? I need my American fullsize FWD boat!!!

What "goodies?" Emphasis on the " ". The Autobello and Italy were perfect goodies in my book.

I'm sorry, but I've been lost at no Autobello and no Italy, which I've been anticipating for quite some time. I would've accepted the Piccolina in the first update, and then Italy in one of those hotfixes/mini updates just fine.

If you wasn't planning on releasing the Autobello and Italy so soon, you should've be more upfront about it a while ago. You pretty much let us come to believe that they were going to be in the next update, and only now you tell us this when it's pretty much become accepted as fact. I'd hate to imagine what the reaction would've been like if you pulled this with the Hopper last year. Would've been disastrous I'm sure.

Please only make promises you can keep.

    1. I wrote that a long time ago, when modders/developers being rushed was a real, gigantic problem. That has died down significantly and is not as bad as it was then, and I've been considering on making changes to my signature, but since the limit has been lowered, that's slowed me down a lot.

    2. I have been waiting, very patiently. However, patience isn't infinite.

True and agree. We have always tried to be quite careful with promises.
The wonders of development, nothing is ever as simple as going from A to B.

We might have shared progress about those early, but the at the same time we have never confirmed that these content will be coming necessarily in the next update.
This has been coming from speculation/rumors. This is also mentioned in the first post of this thread:

Let's please not forget about this :)

As the speculation on 'these content in the next imminent update' was becoming more and more forced in, clarifying this now is better than even later (we have explained the reasons for that in another post).
In general any information regarding the game, take them lightly if they do not come directly from us.

You'll have to wait for the update to find out :)
