Went go-karting today, saw really nice cars, broke my tooth sneak-eating in 2nd period, and that's about it.

At least you have a back to your chair. I broke my chair a while back, fell over and snapped the back. My chair is just molded plywood, so I glued it up, and it’s okay, but I wouldn’t lean back in it. Sort of uncomfortable after a while at the computer, I should probably just replace it.

Old cheapest available foldable piano stool as a racing seat, it creaks, but that is okay as Tmaster throttle pedal squeaks louder. Should probably figure out way to grease that or something.

All this about seats, i don't know why office chairs can get so expensive, ive got one, £50 or £60 can't remember, it's a no-name office chair with red accents. I call it a gaming chair, if the seller did, it would likely be double the price. I can't really see or tell the difference between it and an expensive one. I went to a gaming festival, and the chairs weren't much better, they had this REALLY soft pillow thing for your neck, but it was warm in there so my neck just sweated and got stuck to it (yuck).

I do quite like the fact that my chair spins, i have an L shaped desk, so it's kind of necessary :p Also quite like the gas piston height adjust, it also gives the chair a bit of springy feel, if you get on it when it's at the lowest setting, there is no give in it and it feels like you are coming down on concrete :p but increase the height a bit and it's nice.

Back support could be better, as i rarely sit with my back against the back because my arms just aren't long enough :p I can't reach the keyboard or my G27 like that. Maybe if i wheel my chair right in, but it still doesn't quite feel right, I can do it, but my eyes don't really like it either.

Also my chair has this odd thing where if you pull out the stalk, it can "recline", but it's spring loaded, so if you lean forward the chair goes forward also, i don't really use it much, but it's nice when watching a flim. It was funny since my sister got on my chair once, leant back and it went whizzing back and she squealed cos she thought it was falling back :p

    Now for a micro-blog:

It's that time again, half term is diminishing and i haven't started any of my mountain of work, because i initially thought i had only a little bit left, but in actual fact i have tonnes to do :p i have no motivation at all to do it, and to do it i need to tidy my room to make some space, ugh it's actaully mad how little things can really clutter up a desk, like it only takes a few bits of papers here and there, a remote control or two, a few hard-drives and i can barely see my desk :p The list goes on for ages, but it never really feels that bad when i'm adding to the collection, like what is one cup going to do, *looks at desk* oops i have 4 already :p

I'm not sure I get the point of "Gaming" chairs either. I've heard that some are better than others though.

To explain the chair I got a bit better: The Steelcase Please V2 retails for around £800, however, I got mine second hand therefore I paid "only" £200 for it (for an apparently reupholstered model). Personally, if I had spent £800 on it, I wouldn't be that impressed, for that sort of money I would want it to give me back massages while it does my chores for me. However, for £200 I actually consider it pretty worth it.

For starters, none of the silver bits on it are plastic, its actually made out of steel. As such it weighs about 25kg (55lb). These chairs are designed to last, 20 years isn't uncommon. Unlike many cheaper chairs the padding doesn't degrade over the span of 2-5 years. This specific chair is obviously many years old already since its second hand from a batch of over 170 chairs, so its clearly from an office space (potentially one that went out of business), yet it still looks and feels like a brand new chair ignoring a few cosmetic blemishes where the paint has been scuffed.

Then there is the adjustability. Mine doesn't have the headrest, and is a slightly older revision, so the arm rests don't move side to side, but this video shows how adjustable it is.

Perhaps most importantly for me, it allows me to keep moving while sitting down. Keeping your back in one single position all day is not good, regardless of how good the posture is. This chair has an articulated back rest, meaning I can change positions/postures throughout the day. The recline function mostly affects the back rest, while the seat-pan stays mostly stationary, this allows hip movement while reclining.
In fact, the recline combined with the articulated backrest can allow me to stretch backwards about as far as my spine will currently go. Making it great for having a stretch in between doing things on the computer.

wow, what a chair! i'd say that is worth £200, but not £800! 25kg sheesh i would not want to cart that up and down stairs :p good thing it'll last. Anyway this is personal microblogs so i'll stop talking about chairs around about now..

So, this morning was a cold one, i didn't realise, until i turned the CH (central heating) up from 17c to 20c, it took ages! radiators got to full temp and the temperature was only creeping up, i checked the weather, and 5c!! felt like only a couple of months ago it was like 25c :p

Lucky you, not snow, here it is negatives and snow, too much of it.

Anyways, I visited grocery store at the morning and no soul around, except the clerk, no cig smoke to bare, no drunken people to dodge, amazing, felt almost like world would of been civilized a bit, but it was just majority of people were passed out from too much of drinking.

Also did some computer maintenance at the morning, dust collects so quick as humidity is only 27%.

Would need to get ear plugs for sleeping as drunks will be noisy next night, but I don't want to travel miles on snow.

Optimization, optimization, optimization. These are some nice numbers :)
Spent the last 10 hours reorganizing code, fixing bugs, and optimizing things even further.

Also had a big crash :p

I was thinking of getting a new chair a while ago also, but in the end just went with changing the foam in the one I have already. Surprisingly my chair is also all metal (at least the arm rests and swivel base) though it weighs very little so its hardly quality, as expected for £35 new.

Just bought a big lump of high density foam on ebay for a few £ and cut it to some rough shape

Little before and after, I didnt take any pictures of the actual process but you can imagine how the first one felt to sit on :p

That was about 3 months ago and while its actually really nice to sit on now, the very plastic leather is cracking all over the arms, I think in the end ill just chuck out the seat part of this and get a decent seat from a scrap car and mount it onto the swivel base of this, that should last forever and be pretty comfortable.

As we talking chairs, I actually changed my very old cheap one to something nicer from Amazon, but had a bit of trouble..

At first I got this 'Office Gaming Chair':
    dsfa.jpg
Looking at the 4/5 rating, and the 'exceptional' discount*, it was quite interesting.
Fast forward 1 week later, the thing arrived and it turned out quite terrible.
First of all, the seat was incredibly uncomfortable. Soon realized that this synthetic-leather was terrible for the hot weather here.
Seat was cracking and jiggly, and I wasn't even sure it was new*
I ended up selling it about 1 month later (not earlier because I was not there), luckily with almost zero loss.

And I went in search of something more decent, and landed on this:
    81fyh6mlrJL_SL1500_.jpg
Which became my current seat and I'm much happier with. With something you spend most of your day on, it's not wise to cheap out at your back's risk :)

    * Most of these ratings were probably fake, and the 'exceptional' discount turned out to be there 24/7 all the year.
    * Lately I'm having quite some doubts about the actual 'new' status of stuff you get from Amazon (sold from Amazon itself). Sometimes some plastics are tore up, other times there's some dust or some kind of stain. As if they are selling 'returned' stuff that is still in perfect condition as new. Anybody else?

Oh, and my 5 months old HDD (WD Black) started to make some really terrible noise. Time to backup and go for warranty.. fun.

Took my kid out for lunch. Burger King...

He had the time of his life trying to murder other kids in the Kids Play Area® at the mall while I was cheering for him from the Old People's Bench™ outside... :D

    Fun times... ;)

Trying to get Steam workshop to actually display properly for Automation, which is at times an exercise in frustration and futility. I'm honestly glad BeamNG doesn't use workshop because lately it has been very unreliable.

    It doesn't... :(

My models are all locked away out of his reach. When I failed securing them up, stuff like this happened:

While we're on the topic of chairs, let me show you mine! I got it a few years ago, I don't remember the price of it though as we got it used, maybe about $70? It's been a great chair, and I've added a back massage that's been working well to support my back, but the massager has been long dead. It's been a great chair, and hasn't had any problem since the time I've had it.

Some issues (or sorcery) have been occurring with my technolology. My iPad just crashed, and died at 70%. I suspect my slight magent incident a while back, the iPad’s only two years old. At least it’s got a battery life more than 10 minutes, unlike my laptop.
