Hello guys, I just brought a PS/2 to USB adapter today! And I just switched from my (fairly decent) Laptop-style keyboard, to a much nicer "real" keyboard. Too bad it is a rubber dome, and it is a bit mushy, but still, it is much nicer to type on compared to the chiclet keyboard that is ubiquitous today! (Especially on laptops!) So, I want to celebrate by buying another keyboard, since I will be graduating very soon. I have two options, the Dell Bigfoot, or the IBM Model M. I'd prefer the latter, even through it's not really the best for gaming, but please tell me what you think!
Does your budget only allow to get those? If not, you could consider a gaming keyboard or something else. Those keyboards are good for typing, reliable but not that great for most other uses. Also, the anti-ghosting features found on PS/2 keyboards are great but 99% of users have no use of it. Get a USB one instead.
Typing is (usually) my thing, i have a gaming keyboard (Cherry MX blues) coming my way, but nothing beats a model M in my opinion. I've always craved a model M since i was in Primary school, and as an adult, it still persists to this day. I've also seen people on YouTube game with Model M keyboards (by Unicomp)
Gaming on either option sucks. They have no anti ghost at all leaving you unable to press certain button combinations and even raising fake button presses. They do have nkro, but not anti ghost. Typing on either option. I'm not a fan of the model M but I own a big foot. Both have pros and cons. Can get a Bigfoot for little investment, worth picking one up, get both
Every product from Dell is crap. Get the IBM Model M it should be more reliable than any of the Dell products..
I am using a Dell laptop rn and I never faced reliability problems. Besides, the Bigfoot is also a really good typing keyboard.
If you're looking for a mechanical keyboard without breaking the bank, I suggest Red Dragon keyboards. I have the Red Dragon k556 RGB keyboard.
Das Keyboard Prime 13. I love it, great quality, has white backlighting and Cherry MX Brown switches as well.
