i've noticed the new update took a big hit on performance. it seems to max out one of my cores more then before is it a new setting that has been added?
I pointed out my performance concerns in the 0.14 thread: https://www.beamng.com/threads/0-14...-thread-read-1-post.58797/page-10#post-953282 The performance seems to be ridiculously bad, but the devs/everyone ignored my post.
It got worse in 0.13 already, it should get better by next update as they need to make that 300% improvement to how Italy runs. Game looks different now, clearly things have been changed, but also optimizations are not there yet, I think. @Taza, other in graph can be something outside of game too, afaik. Then again when my game gets locked to 2-3fps it shows other element in graph being in 600ms range, but that 2-3fps is happening only when I have wheel plugged in. There is no huge change for me though, but game has always been single core limited by graphics and still seems to be so, but at some point (hopeful for next update), this should lessen as there is currently no CPU that would have enough high single core computational power to keep even 1080 fed sufficiently and single core performance of CPUs is not going to increase huge amounts in near term. However in game development pretty much same is true for every graphically intensive 3D game out there, each game will be notoriously bad at this until enough tweaking and optimization is done, but how much our devs would need to devote time to fix issue with current rendering engine if they are working on new? Reason you don't see any or much of any improvements can be because they can be confident that new will work, who knows, we won't be told much about that, but you can be sure that they will not ignore this point as there is no way to use as many cars as GPU and multicore performance would allow currently. So yeah, it kinda sucks at the moment, Alpha, WIP does warrant some subpar performance, but I would think they will give something better, if not very short term at least in the long run, why else current systems biggest performance problems would not be worked on for last two years or so? It just is not worthwhile to do double job.
On gridmap I get 150-180fps now, I think I used to get over 200fps with same settings as now: In 0.8 version with gtx1050Ti it seems I got pretty much same FPS on gridmap that with I now get with gtx1080, using same settings as with 0.8 test. It is not surprising as i7-6700 was barely enough for gtx1050Ti, sadly there is not much faster CPUs, my 8086k is not much faster in single core as turbo sucks in 8th gen i7 series it is only roughly 10% better without overclocking, less than 30% better SC at most if turbo happens to kick in, yo! (let's not talk about MC, where that thing literally murders 6th gen). So over 1200 euros worth of upgrades improved single car framerates like few fps on average if even that, but with clever choice of graphics option can run relatively high graphics on 1080p, yet not full graphics, definitely not reflections, because CPU is not fast enough. Yeah it sucks, but it does not suck forever, I really really hope at least. At least nobody can't deny what I have been saying for two years, single core is limit here (probably someone still will argue that is not the case, but it is, claiming anything else is like putting head into bush). Still I would rather see really poor performance from current engine for longer if that means they can focus bringing better rendering engine faster.
We read every post there in that thread, it was not clear it was referring about loss of performance. Your GPU is having huge delays there. After an update, it's possible that your settings (including anything you have done in the Nvidia Control Panel for the game) could reset. Always suggest to double-check those. As well obviously check without mods. A mod spamming errors in background won't give more FPS.
Well I did have all mods deactivated and had deleted the default.postfxpreset.cs file before taking that screenshot. Those steps did improve my fps from 25-35 to 30-50. I also did check nvidia control panel, but only to make sure it uses the correct graphics card.
It is laptop right? One thing with those is that sometimes dust can accumulate really quickly to fan, fins of cooler which slows thing down quickly. Not sure if it could be that, especially if happens only in BeamNG and started with 0.14 version, but something worth mentioning.
