Here I have a small map project I've been working on that I need to upload sooner or later before my PC tries something funny and decimates the map (it wouldn't be the first time). Look forward to many updates. P.S. for the time being I have sorted the level into 2 files: One to drop into the 'mods' folder named 'hirochi_mountain'. You can download this file from Dropbox (due to size): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jtb1vzua4renc0q/AACA-u7yZ39leAUsuu4L_CGka?dl=0 And another that needs to first get extracted (no additional program should be required for this), then have the files moved into the 'levels' folder (right near the 'mods' folder on my PC). If files already exist they should be safe to delete, unless you have a map of your own at which point I don't recommend this. I am aware this isn't the best way to upload but as I said I need to act fast before I lose my map for good, I already had to do some file digging to recover my map as it was. As a temporary measure now I have 2 sets of files, the newest are the Hirochi Mountain branded ones, this is due to a situation pertaining to the trees. I'll remove the older files once I have the new fully tested to be working.
GHANGELOG: I've been gone for a while and updated my PC in the process, the changes I have made appear to be tiny but are actually quite large in terms of how I have reduced the number of unnecessary folders and files for added efficiency. There have also been a few objects added to the map here and there. In the next update if all goes well I should be able to port some of the bridges from WCUSA.
Ok so I have very little progress to report of this time around however what I do have to report is that trees are finally working (take a look). It took a lot of file fudging to get it this way but I just couldn't abandon the map with all that had gone into it so far. Anyway I'll get onto adding some objects into the map now that's sorted.
So I have been working on the map a little now and I should have everything working with the trees, I have also added bits here and there to give the race track more of a real feel to it. I'll also use this opportunity to credit any snow/snow themed items to 'Ned 228' (I got permission a long time ago).
Newer And Probably Working Version Avalable Below: Due to size one file is here and the other is in my Dropbox. The file uploaded here goes into "ThisPC/Documents/BeamNG.drive/levels" (if you don't have a "levels" folder create one) and the file on Dropbox goes into your mods folder (AKA "ThisPC/Documents/BeamNG.drive/mods"). I have finally returned from a long slumber with some work being done to the town area, the orange areas around the car dealership have been shrunk to a minimum and I have added various buildings and roads to race around. Please bear in mind though that this is far from complete and it will all look much better once it has been completed. As a racetrack has already been added the focus here will be on creating engaging and visually pleasant selection of roads upon which street circuits will later be built upon. The downside to this progress is that I still really don't know what I'm doing, all I can do is press buttons and drag things around until things appear to fall into place. Nontheless it's best to let pictures do the talking, as they do show more than my incoherant ramblings ever can... P.S. I'm planning to move onto another project for the time being but rest assured I will return to this thread eventually. nice. anyway could you maybe send the link of the download in dropbox because (for me atleast) when i click on the link i get sent to my homepage. anyway nice work
Try the link now, I had linked to dropbox before but I think I was in the wrong folder so I have corrected that error, I also made it so that anyone with the link can view it.
I've had a look at my options and I appear to be incapable of doing this without losing data. I have however managed to create a simple approach where you need to drop one folder into your mods folder and extract the other one into your general BeamNG file. The PC should then automatically ask you to merge the "levels" folder and you will need to do so. The files are up for download now a few posts above this one where I have the latest pictures.
So here I have the latest version of my map, It pains me to release it before the town is completed, but I need some kind of backup in case of the worst happening. There is a file in this post that you will need as well as one in drop box: Put this in your mods folder: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4v25ipblzg3bpoa/AACMdzlba4wWuTwWIk5xZNLLa?dl=0 As for the other file just unzip it and put the 'levels' folder inside the BeamNG.drive folder (that's most likely in your documents on the 'C:' drive).
So I'll be honest, not much has changed this time around but I need to fix a lot of the textures, especially now the trees are broken. So I'll leave this here and be with it what may. On the upside I've now made it easier to install the map, you just need to unzip the file into the "Documents" folder. It should merge with the "BeamNG.drive" folder and everything will show up where it needs to be. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jbakhgi0m7gti54/BeamNG.drive.zip?dl=0
