Keep in mind I havent played beam in a while.... I tested on beam Stadium for like 20 mins. Not sure if its just me but the front tires were more prone to blowing. And the truck seems like it didnt turn as fast as i recall. Did a bunch of sky wheelies and survived them though!!
So I have been away from beam for a bit so sorry for not posting as much etc. Anyways downloaded the newest beta and ran hang ten around a bit to get the feel of the changes. So after about a 15 minute session of pushing the truck at different levels it feels like it is way stronger than it used to be and its not necessarily a good thing. For example I purposely tried smashing the truck into the ground to bend to 4 link or rip the wheel clean off but to no avail it just sprung back into place unlike past betas if memory serves me right. Here is a screenshot of the jump right at impact, as you can see it is an extreme hit that in real life would result in probably a smashed in left front as in the 4 link would bend or the left tire would sheer right off possibly to the safety chain barely holding on. Post hit the truck looks almost brand new besides the door sheering off. I believe so far the handling is somewhat stiff is the best way I can describe it. The sheer force needed to damage components needs to be toned down just a hair and I feel like that would improve it. I'll update after further testing. But most of all I appreciate the update @FLyInG 2 YoUr SoUL ! Thank you Update 1: Rode around with the stock beamng truck for some recording purposes. Hopefully its not too bad on the eyes quality wise. I cant record full quality atm anyways I tried to illustrate my points above in slow motion. It only seems like a guaranteed way to destroy the truck is to slam it into a wall.
I can agree with ^^^, the truck does seem a bit stong still. AFAIK, parts were toned down in 1.15, might be a good idea to make them a little weaker. Maybe the tierod could also be an easier component to break?
I haven't been active either, been trying to juggle YouTube content and Gaming on my virtual machines....kinda not going too well. Someone refresh my memory, is the add-on pack merged with the beta CRD file? Just wanted to make sure. Edit: Never mind, found out the hard way...
Yeah, the tires are to strong, although saying that, in my beta test video, the tires popped twice --- Post updated --- Also does anyone know how to fix the error I'm getting about having duplicate crd mods in my mods folder?
Guys, define "tires"... Tire is the rubber part of the wheel, whose resiliency is hardcoded in the pressureWheels definition. Some of you though probably mean the whole wheel, or even the hub they are attached to...
Also does anyone know how to fix the error I'm getting about having duplicate crd mods in m For me the Rubber part is fine but im having an issue where the whole wheel is hard to break, and multiple times now ive had an issue where both wheels break when one one should break off
Resiliency of wheel hubs is being toned down for next beta. That's exactly why I needed feedback so badly. If both wheels break and shouldn't, the physics engine is to blame. Force transfers can get kind of unrealistic in a simplified scheme based on interconnected beams.
So, keeping in mind that I am a pretty abusive freestyler. Played both Slinger and Hang Ten, Slinger through my roughness lasted up until running out of gas and the only weird thing that happened was my tiring popping when i flipped on flat ground. Hang ten after about 2 hits my suspension started weakening and my whole truck was leaning to the right side. and upon my next hit suspension disappeared again. along with my tires popping same time.
So through some messing around. I have found that when getting really high air, and landing on the rear end on the side of a ramp, nothing but your front right tire breaks. Repeated the same jump multiple times different angles of landing still on the back end, and with different trucks, all the same outcome. It was kinda funny. Happening to anyone else? Didn't see anyone else.
Four links should be weaker imo, I landed hard on the left side on a downward angle and the truck bounced, like the hang ten pic above, just seemed to not break aswell as it should
New beta available. Addon Pack to follow later today (Merlin Engine won't receive updated features until then!). Download and update notes in first post.
You can skip the latest one, breakTriggerBeams are reportedly too weak. New beta incoming in the weekend.
