a noob question about cracked windshields...

so i was wondering if you crack your windshield does that mean the body is twisted/bent

 

It means that the windscreen was damaged somehow.

 

The windshield being cracked does not mean there is any other damage to the car.

 

Well, there must be a reason for it to crack tho

 

A rock could have hit it just right... there could have been a weak spot in the glass and broke from fluctuating temperatures over the years, etc.

 

Common one is a stone chipped the glass, then as the glass heats up in the sun, cools down at night, the glass expands and contracts repeatedly eventually cracking.

 

As long the crack isn't bigger than a dollar bill you should be okay

 

Fun fact, if you take a drill and drill into the glass at both ends of the crack, it wont crack more

 

But then you have holes in your windsheild. You can buy a fix kit for it also.

 

You don't drill all the way through, only about half way

you also introduce a new failure region, and fail road worthiness in most countries. Dumb idea

 

There are even windshield repair services where they stop cracking by drilling.

 

But usually refilling the crack after, also not a legal process in many countries
