I fell off the face of the planet right around the time that Narwhal committed suicide. We were moving, and then we didn't have internet until about a week ago. In about December 2016, I joined group where Fen posted his newer mods in private. December 2016 was fun times. Christmas was rolling around, and I had just purchased my very own digital download copy of BeamNG.drive. Life was good. I decided to join the aforementioned group's discord server. It had people like Fen, Narwhal, Cy Chris, and a few other dudes who I can't remember the name of, the most notable of which was Fen is Ten. Anyways, when I joined, I was welcomed by Fen and Fen is Ten. We talked for a while, over the span of about 3 months. Narwhal would drop in and out every once in a while, and he was pretty cool. I can remember him talking about killing himself. In the last week, I realized it was a question of when. Then I left the discord server. I stopped being active(ish) on the forums. In May we moved, and we had to change our ISP. what a debacle it was. I get back and remember that I needed to make a trailer for a guy's mod. Because I'm curious, I poke around the mods section of the forums and come across a beta-released WIP mod. The meshes were credited to Narwhal, with a message that said, "RIP My friend." I thought Narwhal had been banned, but with one quick search of that top-right corner, I brought myself into tears. I'm sorry. I remember playing this at the funeral of one of my real life friends, and so I pass it on to you. Rest in peace.
As many will say if they know how the world works. Its better to be late even if too late and do something then stare from a distance and mock at the failures of others to take action while those who can't don't.
Hello, Your goodbye is delayed. But obviously, all of us can't really understand what hapenned. He seemed nice, and was nice. Rip to him. I love his mods i hope he can hear us from where he is now. I hope he feels better where he is now than when he was alive. Peace to him, all my feelings to his family and friends.
There is one curiosity though, really long time ago people were talking about Narwhal and out of curiosity I did check last posts, there was reply by him to one his mods later than first time his suicide was mentioned. From my memory it was not update to mod either, some reply to question, imo, but then later I did try to look, however it was no longer possible by then to find any of his posts. I just found it odd, bit like message from the grave thing.
Don't have any info on that, but I remember it was just normal reply, so it was kinda surprising, but it was so long ago I don't remember exact details.
That's a creepy info. I hope everything will be good. That sentence doesn't mean anything. Anyways. He was very nice and the beamng community has been hit from 2013 to 2017 of his activity. He will always and for long be remembered our dear Narwhal.
*sigh*. Irregardless, we can all agree that the loss of narwhal was great, i remember reading some of his funny posts in the general discussion thing (you know that ol' thing before it got locked), it's such a shame.
I don't think he meant it that way. Great can also mean very large. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/great https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/great
oh shit I just realised it could be put that way, i meant to say it was a great loss, like big/large, sorry for the ambiguous-ity.
I never virtually “met” narwhal.... seemed like a nice dude though. Also @Michaelflat it’s funny you mentioned irregardless.... I was just remembering how all my teachers hated it. Also, ambiguousness= ambiguity in case you need to use it later on. RIP Narwhal though. He is, and will always be, missed.
I think you can see i want to be a physics teacher, not an english teacher, ambiguity was the word i was looking for Me neither, i never really had a conversation with him, but you could see from his posts how he was in a way, and i remember reading a few of them.
Sorry for bump, but I've heard that Narwhal was getting banned very often; does anybody know what might've been the cause?
