I may be late to the party, but I think that this should be a Randolph vehicle, because they make heavy utility trailers, so why not have them also make utility vehicles on a government contract? This would not only be an interesting vehicle, but also be an opportunity to expand upon the in-game lore.

I just can’t see this being called a Randolph B1 or R1. It doesn’t have that “ring” to it like the Brutus B1 has. And I don’t think a trailer company in real life has the knowledge of building a drivable vehicle.

True. In that case, a good company would be Bruckell, because it flows quite well, and the name would go something like: Bruckell Brutus B1

That’s like saying it’s a Dodge Chevy Silverado. What you said makes no sense. The name is set in place, and that’s that.

Not sure if this has been asked because I haven't read through every page, but will the "Brutus B1" Model the real life H1's 4 wheel independent A-arm suspension? Along with the portal boxes?

Wonderful! You just made me that much more excited about this mod. The H1 was really the only Hummer worth buying if you wanted anything else besides a Tahoe with a more radical body(H2&H3), and the H1 suspension set-up is a prime example of independent suspension done right ;). Wish GM would use the H1 IFS (Maybe IRS too) minus portal boxes on their modern trucks to replace that lightweight aluminum center section so prone to flexing and exploding on the trail after the owner beefed up the half shafts and CV joints. Kind of a shame that solid axles are always considered an upgrade for a Silverado's front end when considering trail riding.

Your right, independent suspension would be more of a trail setup while solid axles are more of a rock crawling setup.

The H1's suspension was well designed in some aspects, but lacking in others... the biggest would be in its suspension travel. The H1 really lacks in suspension travel so much so that the rest of the vehicle is designed to still perform exceptionally despite almost always having a tire or two in the air.

That being said however, I plan on adding a long travel kit to it (not like a Baja kit) so that it helps improve the off road ability... but of course I will still have the stock setup as well.

An example of what I am talking about...

When I meant trail riding I was thinking of rock crawling too, and any obstacle that might be encountered on a trail. Independent suspension is definitely the way to go for any sort of go-fast scenario though. You are right about the H1 suspension not flexing very well but the allure of it to me is just its strength over any other independent suspension setup commercially available today. A new silverado with 37s would blow out the front end on the rocks, but an H1 wouldn't have a problem. A coil sprung solid axle can get more flex for sure and will be much stronger than an aluminum center section utilizing independent setup but I personally think the longevity/toughness of a proper independent suspension system both on and off road is unbeatable. Unfortunately there aren't really any good examples on the civilian market besides the DynaTrac ProRock 60/80 aftermarket kits. The H1's suspension will still probably not be able to handle 54s, but I can live without them ;)

Ahh, well yes, you are correct... they are tougher than hell. In normal applications you will probably never break it. (that counts light off roading even)

And yeah, an H1 wouldn't have any issues with 37's seeing as they actually come stock with them ;)

Most trucks upgrade to Humvee tires... Hummers are born with them :D

That being said, you can't really go much over 40" tires because there just isn't enough room in there for all that tire (without a lift anyways)

One main issue the H1 DOES have with its system is turning radius... the steering system is just not set up incredibly well and really lacks in some departments. Sure, it can shrug off an 8,000lb truck being held up by one tire... but the steering system is the definite weakest link... Once you upgrade the steering system... the thing is tougher than hell in almost every aspect.

Here is a video showing what happens to the steering when met with a ton of force... Honestly it blows my mind how they don't break. Interestingly enough... the way I have the B1 setup right now (since I am trying to mechanically replicate the H1 as close as possible) exhibits the exact same behavior... might include an upgraded steering system as an option, but we will see.

Miniscule progress since the last time I have updated (didn't have internet at home for nearly 2 weeks... it seems to be back? Its chugging a bit but hey... I'll take what I can get) but now we have turn signals. (They don't function yet... I'm getting everything in game first... then I will mess with that madness)

They are held in the same way as the headlights, so if your too rough on them... they gonna break and flop around.
(Yes I changed the body color just so you could see them easier)

Just a quick question, will this vehicle have blackout lights? I see that you have turn signals, tail lights, etc. but haven't seen any military lighting yet...

Haha yeah fitting anything much bigger than the stock 37s would require some creativity. You're right about the steering being a weak link, the H1 doesn't bob and weave too well lmao. But yes you absolutely have to love how much abuse that setup can take. I love hearing that you're trying to replicate everything mechanical about it, as I just like the platform in general.

Are you planning on having different engine models for each engine?

Currently it has only 3 engine models, on 2 of which the only difference is the lack of a distributor on the diesel variant. The other one is a repurposed T-Series engine model for the Cummins engine. I want to make a separate engine model for the Duramax, as I have something cool planned  but it may or may not work out properly as there isn't too much space in the engine bay

this would be amazing if a beta dropped on Christmas morning, doubtful but I always end up getting surprised and proved wrong. Either way Sithhy I am excited for the release of this beautiful machine into an already great game

Could we get the airless tires on this when it drops? I think that would be amazing
