Will there ever be a proper Tow Truck added that doesnt use tow points? and a rollback that has a winch?
What about a node that is "magnetic" that seeks out something on the bottom of the car, and is attached to some kind of stretchy beam?
For that you would use tow hitch node, you can have several of those, look for D15 tow hitch for example. Setting values right gives you stretchy bind between said nodes. So in practice you could add a node and few beams to hold that node in place, that would be a mod that adds node(s) or changes node parameters for each vehicle, then same for car hauler flatbed and you can have two nodes seeking each other. For a winch one might add hydro beam and new tow hook node, so you can attach to your 'cable' to your towing points, then just use hydro command to shorten the hydro. Trouble is extending as it probably likes to bind into structures, also it is just a straight line, but it is possible to add such. Not sure if there is more issues as have not seen such made.
the D15 tow truck mod uses couplers and hydros to make a realistic-ish tow truck, before that it used coltris to grab nodes( IMO the older version is easier to use since not all cars have tow points in a good spot or at all)
Yea I remember that and that is exactly what Im wanting maybe one day again. like Bidwars did with the Derby Scenario keeping cars after clicking freeroam.
There is a d series tow truck that has been in the files since 0.9, but I doubt it's relevent anymore
Someone put the time in to model it and decided that having it take up space in the files is better than removing it, at some point I’m sure something will happen to it.
Since ropes aren't supported, a version with the dolly(?) that goes under the either front or rear wheels could possibly be made, mod or otherwise.
Who said we didn't have ropes? https://www.beamng.com/threads/command-beams.27412/#post-393278 The primary subject was command beams, which I believe was replaced with advanced hydros functionality, but that's not the point, the actual point is hidden inside that thread; We have some form of ropes! You can add and use Ropes in a JBeam file. And here, if you don't believe me here's an example of one I put in my old Gavril Blue Collar mod; And the JBeam code;
