I personally like the older one more. The newer facelift of the two there looks depressed, and more aged even.

I'd be honest and say the pre-facelift Celebrity looks more like it's getting it's eyes stretched and is in constant pain from my perspective.

They actually sell these with the 3.6 V6. They would need safety and quality overhauls before they made it to market here in the US. GM did share the Uplander platform with the GL8 when those were still in production.
(I know this is 8 pages old, just sharing some former knowledge)

I personally like the facelift my current car got just before the 2nd gen came out.

Actually, (not trying to be rude, just friendly :)) The GL8 never used a V6 bigger than 3.0L. Check the Wikipedia page ;) And yes, I'd assume you're right about the quality and safety.

They look almost identical to me. I see Audi added some chrome trim and some lower fascia. Looks like that's about it.

OT: Mercedes did a fansastic job keeping the same style, but making it look like a new car. The W210 to W211 was a great update, even if less reliable.

I do like subtle facelifts like the first gen A8 (after the Audi V8), where there isn't much changes, but it does it well.

Just wanted to bump here after noticing this...

Honestly, the 2nd gen S2000 is still great as the 1st gen, probably even better than the 1st gen.

The AP2 had a lower redine since it was mildly stroked. That’s the only tech difference to my knowledge.

    Ford Mustang S197 to S550.

The S550 replaced the S197's blind adherence to the 60s design shape with more modern and bolder styling, got independent rear supension and came to Europe at a good price.

Another one came to my mind...

The pre-facelift new gen Edge looks... like a fattened up "fuggo".

The facelift now makes it look like a fierce competitor, along with more detail to it as well.

Ford designs from the past ten years ago are starting to grow on me and I hate it...

I didn't really like the older Edge either, looks a bit...bland and boring.

    Just my personal tastes.

No I mean I used to not like Ford, but they’re starting to grow on me.
