When i created the map I copied a base game map, deleted everything I didn't need and went in and changed all the directories of the old map to my new map. but the main.level.json (mission file) will not update to what I have created its still from the template map i used.

    Things I have done:
Checked all my .json files for incorrect directories.
Browsed the internet for countless hours.
Messed with the game enough to where i broke my map many times.

Where is your map located? (full path)
Where are you looking for the updated file? (full path)

    C:\Users\Owner\Documents\BeamNG.drive\levels\<mapname>
C:\Users\Owner\Documents\BeamNG.drive\ <-- everywhere in the documents section of beamng

The editor saves everything to Documents\BeamNG.drive\levels\<mapname>
So it should be overwriting the old files directly.

What are you deleting exactly in-game? Forest items, or Static objects?

I remade an entire new map from scratch. I deleted everything. Forest, skybox, terrain, ect. Everything else saves and overwrites. Just not main.level.json

You are looking at the wrong one.
    That is not used anymore.
You should have a 'main' folder.
That's the representation of your scene tree in short.
