I was mostly paraphrasing the part of the post above from “Where are we Going” thread concerning how vehicles are increasingly complex. At this point, most new vehicles shouldn’t need much innovation like the bus’ features or the Autobello’s torsion bars. (Had to put the quote up there because mobile phones are great at this)
That is the 1963 Gavril Bluebuck, or at least the only picture of it we have right now. Cars of that era were much more square, and certainly did not have that weird bulge the Bluebuck has on the rear fender. Cars in the early 60's tended to be more conservatively styled, like this:
Yeah I can agree that practically all early 60s sedans had smooth side paneling that started in the mid 1950s as bulges started to fade for a cleaner style, Such as the 1st gen Chevrolet Bel Air to the 2nd gen for example 1954 1955 So mabye the devs can redesign it such as for the Piccolina and even the 200BX with its taillights back then Thanks for responding because I wouldn't have even though about the paneling of the vehicle, such I wouldn't have thought of the position lights on the Piccolina without FLyInG 2 YoUr SoUL bringing it up.
The Piccolina’s issues were mostly street legal though, this is just outdated styling. I kinda like the bulges TBH, though something more subtle might fit better.
A lot of the early renderings for ingame vehicles don't quite match what the vehicles became. I have to image the dev's version of the Bluebuck has already diverged from the rendering we were given.
It makes kinda sense to update plans for new learned skills and information, development kinda is exactly that
They learn. The dev team is now almost entirely European, so they might not have exposure to old american barges.
Then we need to spam them with American barges and technical details thereof. @B25Mitch @Nadeox1 @Jalkku @Falkrum @synsol This is a 1967 Pontiac Catalina, one of the most beautiful American cars ever made. It came with... let's see here... a V8, a V8, another V8, and ooh look, a V8!
Hilariously, that's the one new feature I really want on the Wendover. Fortunately, there's a modern version of the digidash in-game on the 800-series, so there's not much standing in the way for it to make its way into the Soliad. By the way, @ManfredE3 ,thanks for the location of that quote. There's some other interesting information contained within that I'm glad someone pointed out. Of particular importance is the way existing content was gradually refined over 2018 - that and the idea of baggage trollies. Whether or not Tdev meant handcarts or baggage tractors is perhaps an interesting area of speculation - although it may not pan out for any number of reasons. As for the debate on the Bluebuck's side sculpting - it may be worth noting that bulging rear fenders came back in the late sixties as part of what is now known as "coke bottle" styling. The other main feature was a pinched "waist" somewhere along the beltline, usually immediately before the rear quarter-panel. You can see both on the '67 Pontiac, but neither on any of the other cars Vmlinuz posted (although you can see the body lines that would eventually develop into the coke bottle on the white '63 Pontiac).
I know about coke bottle styling appearing from the early 1960s but I would like to point out that the Bluebuck's side profile is flat from the hood to the truck and between the windows with neither a dip or raise going or starting at the rear fender unlike the Barstow, for example, that has very subtle coke bottle styling with it's small raise starting at the rear fender. So the Bluebuck didn't get that styling in its design (The W.I.P Barstow photo for easier comparison.)
Doesnt Gabester, the lead vehicle designer, live in New York, USA? Or am i wrong here? I know the company is in Germany and other people are from other European countries, but there are also a lot of devs from America.
Oh man thats really shitty, he was actually one of the guys that created this game back in 2013 or something. Sad to see him stop after all these years.
Any sources of such rumors that he has left? Last I knew was that he was kind of manager for vehicle design people, providing guidance etc.
