The new license plate system is fantastic and now allows essentially perfect replication of any EU or US sized plate, so naturally I'd like to expand that even further and add more sizes. I've spent the last month or so since 0.15 muddling through tutorials trying to figure it out, and have managed to make new .dae and material files and get slots in the parts selector, but I haven't been able to make any more progress at all for the last week.

Messing with the highlighted values in the car's license plate jbeam makes it show up as either a US or EU plate (both showing "no texture") or disappear completely, which leads me to believe this may be what I'm missing, but I can't figure out what to put there.

I've tried my best to replicate the vanilla files but I'm not sure if I'm missing files, if they're in wrong place, if I haven't told the game where to look for them, or if it's something else completely beyond my current level of comprehension. It's more than likely a little of everything.

Any help would be hugely appreciated, and I've attached the mod if anyone would like to take a look (please don't judge too harshly if it's a hilariously stupid mess, because it probably is :p).

    Thanks!

The mesh file is still the US plate.
You need to give the mesh a unique name ("licenseplate-36-13")
And also a texture/material name, (you should reuse the same name as above)

As i saw in the midsize.jbeam, you should not use spaces at all, use underscore or dash

I tried to write a guide but maybe it's not really clear.
If there is any missing information or misunderstanding just ask .

Thank you! I've got it working. I think the guide does assume a bit of prior knowledge, but I'm also a very learn-by-example type person so text instructions are more difficult for me no matter how good they are.
