Thanks for the mention! I've heard that the devs want to program smart traffic, we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, I'm planning bigger experiments with traffic; I have new ideas. Career mode in 2019 would definitely spark a lot of interest and perhaps bring back inactive players. It does sound like a lot of work, but I'm sure it will be super amazing.
Apologies for the bump, I know I'm probably going to stir up some controversy with this comment, but I feel like the Automation repository has kinda fallen out of place. Nowadays even cars with little to no effort get approved. I hate to see all those good car mods get obscured by those low effort mods. :|
Meh, I think the automation part is fine. It is separated so if you want a nice automation car, you go to that section. What could be improved is a the fact that it still shows in the what is new tab on the forum page.
Well it’s no different to some of the low effort skins and maps that get uploaded onto the main repo. It’s not only Automation
Hence why I stopped doing Automation cars altogether, as I hated them. And hence why I don't do skins, because I don't consider myself good enough at it to actually make said skins repo mods.
Theres just so many people that desire some sort of validation by uploading skin/map/automation mods hoping people will "like" their mods, i dont know why, its a rather strange and unnecessary character trait that a lot of people have on this forum. more prevalent on bng.com than any other forum I am a member of.
I personally think it's like that because of the sometimes visible line between new members and old members.
So you mean that it is weird that you want that people like the stuff you give to them? Isnt that the whole idea of making mods available for others? Or do you mean 'like' like ratings?
As for the who thing about "good" and "bad" mods, what I think we could really only do aside from lament about the situation is create a "community-based" quality control/requirements list using our interpretation of quality content and maybe hope that the devs/mods implement some of the proposals. It's a pretty "out-there" solution but that's all I got at the moment.
What about the 'Rating' system already implemented, with which the community can choose which are "good" mods and which aren't?
It seems that there are large complaints on that as well. Seems the big problem with reviews/ratings is that somesome helpful ones are buried under "dis is souper gud 5 stars pls download" ratings. Another solution would be to simply add a helpful/unhelpful rating on reviews so users can see which ratings are trusted more by the community.
That seems to be a pretty good solution to the problem. Adding on, any review which gets enough unhelpful ratings could be hidden from view, and possibly not factored into the calculation for the amount of stars the vehicle has.
What about a rating system by only staff members appart of the one already implemented?, I don't know maybe the stars from the staff being in red and the ones give by the rest of mortals in yellow like it is. Then I deffinetly will trust on those mods with a high rating from devs and staff.
I truly agree to this as many helpful comments are burried by the comments saying "dou nott dowwnnloaad it iss to badd" without saying any reasons. I think there should be more options like upvote and downvote. If one post has to many downvots like ' 1 upvotes and 10 downvote' it should be deleted or covered by a banner which says ' this post has too many downvotes are you sure you want to see this?' this should cover the reviews as well.
