Welcome to my Group N/BTCC inspired racing championship. This championship will be using 80's RWD race cars, tuned for handling rather than speed, although they're still plenty quick. They are the ETK I-series, Ibishu Pessima, and Bruckell Legran, available for download below.

    • ETK I-series: Based on the 2400ti Evolution, this is the heaviest of the vehicles available, and also potentially the tamest. It also has a full aero kit, keeping it stable at speed.
    • Ibishu Pessima: Tuned by @fufsgfen, this Pessima is very light and agile. It's gearing limits it's top speed, however, so it'll be at a disadvantage on the straights.
    • Bruckell Legran: Note, this vehicle does not use stock parts, and a RWD drive train is included in the download. The fastest of the 3, this Legran has plenty of power, but is limited by it's Live axle rear suspension, giving it a rather loose rear end. This can be used to induce high speed drifts if you're brave, however.
    Race #1:
To participate, do this event by going to time trials, selecting Automation Test Track, and selecting Race Track Circuit. In the options settings, select 2 laps. Leave rolling start and reverse disabled.Change time of day to whatever you want. Post a screenshot of your time in this thread. If possible, please also upload a video or replay file of your best run. Post your time and the video in this thread. In the video description or your post, include whether you used a keyboard, controller, or steering wheel. Be sure to include fastest lap and total lap, as well as a screenshot of the end.

Submissions for times due February 10th, 2019.

    Current Times:

    1. Fufsgfen: 4:28.052 - 2:11.834 (Pessima)
    2. Capkirk: 4:36.216 - 2:14.858 (ETK I)
    3. LucasBE: 4:45.491 - 2:19.616 (Pessima)

Good to here so many people are interested. I expect to have my position dethroned pretty soon. I'm not gonna say what I set it with for fear of biasing the car choices, but hopefully one car doesn't end up too much faster than the others.

Oh, I thought my version is faster, but downloaded official and it is same, so I don't know, did I do it right?
    upload_2019-2-2_21-4-45.png

Oh yes, I used Thrustrmaster T150 wheel set to 1080 degrees, clutch pedal, heel and toe. I don't have shifter so had to use paddles.

Also I did practice 2 laps, then I drove 2 laps with my version, then downloaded official version and drove two laps with that so that it should go right.

Oh and my times are 4:30.485 - 2:13.301

Yeah, your version of the pessima is identical, I just added a .json file so you can actually select it in the time trials menu. And it looks like I need to improve my time. Maybe I should've given the other two cars 255s to compensate for being heavier, and tuned by someone much less competent...

    Edit:
Managed to get the ETK around a bit quicker, I wasn't trying very hard on my testing laps. I'll have to try beefing up the legran and ETK and see what kind of difference it makes for the next race though.

I think that ETKI is bit faster than Pessima, might be close to 1 second faster. With weak first lap I got already faster time from cold, just testing the car first time. Pessima has only around 300hp, so ETKI even heavier has probably quite bit more power, maybe close to 500?

Pessima is bit soft for smooth race track, but it takes jumps etc. well.

Need to try LeGran, haven't driven that much and barely at all as RWD, but I would not say less competent being any part, ETKI at least was really good :)

Hehe, you posted more while I was typing, same thoughts I see :)

I got fast lap of 2:14.034 with Legran at first test, so it is not horribly slower, might get to low 2:13's with practice.

All of them have <400HP, I assumed the longer gearing would give the ETK and Legran an advantage on the straights, but they don't have enough space to exceed 140 anyway, so it just makes them slower out of corners. The Legran is supercharged though, so it can brute force it's way out in 3rd gear if need be. ETK is ironically probably the slowest with turbo lag.

Maybe not, I actually did a better job of balancing power than I thought. Bigger tires might be in order though.

With ETKI I got high 2:16.xxx as first lap from standing start, I think that with practice I can get that around the track roughly 1 second faster than Pessima, LeGran is perhaps slightly slower than Pessima, but it is not huge difference, 0.5 seconds perhaps, but I have done only two laps with that with ETKI I think only one lap as I missed brake point after 1st lap and spun out at 1st chicane, so those might be faster than I currently think.

All of them are faster than 2:14 though. I try to test few more laps, maybe I can get them all under 2:13, that would be quite challenging though.

ETKI is quite fast compared to others.

Also there is at least 0.5s time left to improve.

It seems it's my driving that's lacking then. Well, larger tires don't seem to make a huge difference, so I guess I'll just see if I can get the Legran .5s faster.

Yeah, and I'm pretty new on the wheel anyway. I managed to shave off nearly a second by watching your run though. I'll probably give it another couple goes and see what I can do.

Can I update my Pessima time? Or maybe I'm banned from this competition :D
    upload_2019-2-2_23-54-23.png

I think cars are pretty equal, but require whole different way of driving, Pessima is perhaps most difficult as it is tuned softer than others and brakes are not quite optimal, bit too strong I think, but with practice they all are quite competitive with each other.

You have got lot of improvement though!

This racing activity is kinda hidden under the carpet at the moment, I did post on ideas and suggestions subforum that maybe there could be a own area on forum for racing, then more people would join as it is super easy to miss racing activity currently.

Well, its feburary 10th, so post your results soon if you want to get on the leaderboards. The next races are going to be moved to general chat due to the lack of people here, so this race might not count anyway.

That is good idea, it certainly will give more exposure and maybe if racing comes out at the open, then it is seen how much racing is really done and maybe it gives reasons to have dedicated subforum.
