Admin team of Modding For Dummies Discord Server Is proud to introduce you to our first Modding challenge for beginners. Since the goal of our server is to promote and encourage people to make mods, we thought it was a good idea to do a little challenge. Since we understand that not everyone is able to build a car from scratch, we will have different sub-challenges. The first challenge will be taking place from 1 February 2019 until 28 February 2019. How to participate? Option #1:Join the Modding for Dummies discord Server and tell the admins that you're joining the challenge and upload the finished mod to the repo with “MFD modding challenge 1 level (level name)” in the subtitle. Then share the link to the dedicated channel when you post it. We will try to help people during this challenge but please keep in mind that we cannot be online 24/7.Option #2: Tell us in this thread that you're joining the challenge and upload the finished mod to the repo with “MFD modding challenge 1 level (level name)” in the subtitle. Then share the link in this thread. Challenge 1 - Racing Challenge Make a mod with ‘Racing’ as theme, this can be anything from support vehicles to a traffic cone used at autocross. You can participate in all categories but this isn’t mandatory. Rules Don't start before the starting date Don't steal Be original No NSFW content Follow rules CriteriaChosen Jury will judge the mods by looking for: Mesh detail/skin quality Jbeam quality Configs and their descriptions Creativity Realism Console errors Additional notesSince this is the first challenge that we host, we will learn while doing. We do not expect full cars or stuff like that. It should be an entry level modding challenge. We will try to be online often to check on the challenge sub-channels on discord, as well as in this thread and help with any questions. If you have any questions you can ask them over here or on MFD discord Server. Good Luck! Modding For Dummies Admin team: @Blijo @Neidjel @D-Troxx @Ai'Torror (server invite link)
due to some small miscommunication on the discord it already started on the 1st of February, so if anyone who signs up from this day on will need those few extra days we will wait
Not that much of a beginner but I might participate if I find some time for skins in the near future.
just to clarify, since I started on the 8th of feb, I will be able to keep working until the 8th of march?
yes, we won't be that strict with the deadline for this challenge because of those communication issues.
Hello,, Since there were not many entries in this challenge, we decided to choose our winner As explained in the rules, we paid attention to mesh detail, jbeam quality(errors, shaking, realism), configs, description etc. Sadly, we only had two entries. If you have feedback on how to make this bigger/better, let us know, we plan on hosting more of these challenges but with prizes. One of the entries was https://www.beamng.com/resources/426-hemi-moonhawk-mammoth.7796/ A Hemi engine made by @ROCKGODBOSS Simple, basic but realistic with nice configs(exploding motor in grandpa's sleeper was a surpise I guess). The other entry was: https://www.beamng.com/resources/autobello-civettalina.7808/ by @CaptainZoll It's a more complicated and more ambitious mod but something simular had been done before and the execution wasn't exactly great. It is a lot of fun to drive and it looks good from a distance. We as admins think that a clean jbeam and no interference with vanilla parts is very important for every mod, even beta's. Therefore, we must congratulate @ROCKGODBOSS , he is the winner of the first MFD modding challenge!
