That's after a power wash, and the caps came with it. Thing had 4 years of moss and tree sap on it before I owned it so that's a right improvement for me.
It takes 15 seconds to walk around it and pull the hubcaps off and throw them in the garbage. You have any before pics?
Not sure about your hatred towards my hubcaps but here's a pic of the first official day of ownership. Took me about 30 minutes per side handwashing it, left is before, right is after.
You have my respect. How long did it sit? There's nothing personal about my hatred of your hubcaps. I just like the look of bare steelies and hate cheap aftermarket hubcaps. I kinda dig the car though. I almost bought a Malibu with the 3100.
Sat for 4 years in the elements, new plugs and a battery and it turned over. Recently gave it a tune up, but its burning oil somewhere. 3100s are great engines, but GM screwed them over with the plastic felpro gaskets for the intakes. But I'd assume its the valve seals since they are starting to chatter a bit.
I have plenty of experience with cheap shitty plastic GM intake gaskets. My 97 Yukon has the 5.7 vortec which was also plagued with intake gasket issues. I doubt an intake gasket could cause a 3100 to burn oil though. At least on my 5700 there is no flow of oil through the intake, just air and coolant. Failure mode is usually antifreeze getting into the oil. That engine also burned a ton of oil before I rebuilt it. It'd go through a quart just about every 300 miles. I think the main cause was gummed up piston rings, but the valve seals were old and stiff too.
I did an oil treatment recently to give it some temporary relief. I plan on doing a compression test soon as well. Also really need a new muffler, as you can hear in the video.
The 403 in my T/A looked kinda like that before I pulled it out, it had a lot of buildup in it, not helped by a decade of collecting water and rusting. It was originally parked because it caught on fire.
Yesterday I went to the junkyard in the freezing rain to pull a new taillight for my new to me 99 passat winter beater. Old one was cracked and nasty, and the one that I got was an almost new replacement part! Score!
One of the previous was messing with the bodywork around the doors and lost a plastic clip holding the inside trim. I was lucky to find one in the load of spare parts that I have. As a bonus, the inside panels now match up the way they're supposed to, instead of being stacked in the wrong order.
Finally dropped the fuel tank on the Reatta yesterday. Its been sitting for so long that the gas looks like red wine or ATF The sending units screwed up from all the gunk and is possibly very rusty? I don't want to touch it to find out because it is so nasty. **picture low quality because I accidentally smeared dirt all over camera lens**
I got to work on my car for the first time since late December. I replaced the front seatbelts and changed the diff oil. Now the seatbelts are complete and not in tatters. A big improvement, no doubt. I’m slowly making a dent into the 20-odd list of jobs to do on the car. Next up is getting the bumpers re-anodized. Fun times.
I moved the bronco, cleaned out the tarp under it and took a short video, I could use some feedback on it so when I take another video in April after everything that needs to be fixed ATM is fixed and I have it registered I can take a better one. This is pretty much my first video ever that's not a random replay of Wreckfest or smashing stuff in Beam. I'd do one for the firebird but not much to show and it's cold outside a few things I didn't mention or explain well The grinding noise you hear inside is the throwout bearing on the transmission, only happens in neutral. The tailgate window stopped working shortly after it started getting cold so I haven't had a chance to troubleshoot it and fix it otherwise I would have lowered the tailgate to better film the cargo area. I got my license in December so I can't drive anyone unless they have a license themselves and had it for 4 years untill may, then I can drive immediate family(my sister), then I have to wait until December to pick anyone up(friends, relatives, etc) so I just leave the seat up, it makes it easier to throw stuff in back and check for leaks around the fiberglass roof.
I'm 16. It was hard to find one that ran, had solid rockers, fenders, floor, frame, and was cheap. Bonus that it is lifted,manual, has a 300, and was $1700
