What do you think about creators adding an official plane? I mean they created airport on italia map, it would be cool to have some passenger plane/acrobatic or jet.
Well, i know its called BeamNG.;Drive; for a reason, but from other side limiting fun and possibilities beacouse of how game is called. Have you tried how awesome is flying mod planes and crashing them, simulating failures etc... --- Post updated --- also, imagine jumping with piccolina off cargo bay trying to hit another car and then watching this collision in slow mo
The exact same reason why we have a piano and a cannon in game...? You can effectively drive the cannon after all...
It's a ton of more research for making an official plane. Trucks still have 4+ wheels and are meant for driving.
I think a plane would be great, but it would defeat the whole purpose of the game; to drive. That is why it is called BeamNG.Drive
but, i still think that limiting its possibilities beacouse of name is dump. Like not having ability to have anything instead of bed in bedroom beacouse its called so. --- Post updated --- for example: In battlefield you can still drive a excavator. Or in IL2 sturmovic Bos you can drive a tank OR in WorldOfTanks you can drive vechicles on wheels OOOOR in KerbalSpaceProgram you can build planes, cars ,rovers etc. OOOOOOOOr in Just Cause you can do everyhing. So why does beeamNg need to be worse?
Because Battlefield is Battlefield. Because IL2 is IL2 Because World Of Tanks is set in World War, people used those. Because Kerbal Space Program is made for rockets, yet wheels still exist because of modding potential. Because Just Cause is Just Cause. .Drive isn't worse because it isn't like most games out there. It's made for simulating vehicle crashes. The modding community can fill in the blanks, the devs have more on their tables...including coffee.
It doesn't. There's plenty of non-driveable assets included in the game already, and you can also drive stuff like the Old Cannon you couldn't possibly drive in real life... To be honest, the whole name argument is void. The only reason why planes are not in the cards right now is the devteam declaredly choosing to focus on land vehicles instead.
Kerbal Space Program is made for rockets, yet wheels still exist because of modding potential. Yea also a lot of people fly planes, why, then they put a big airport on map, or made posters with boeing777(i think) I know that name is name but potencial in adding them to game is jut BIIIIG
You're probably talking about Jungle Rock Island and Italy. It's there because It would make sense. for somewhere to have an airport. Why not? Either way, I don't think the developers will spend time researching planes, when they'll probably only add one due to how difficult it probably is. Nor is there many uses for planes. There are posters...because posters...
I can explain this tecnically. BeamNG simulate aerodynamic via collision triangles(coltris) which literally launch a bunch of particles as the wind toward the "wing" to create aerodynamic forces. Therefore the center of lift is always at 50% mean aerodynamic chord, and the aerodynamic force vector is always perpendicular to the wing surface. In conclusion, it cannot simulate aerodynamics(aircraft handling) realistically. In BeamNG, open tailgate in the Pickup, open cargo doors in the Van and remove window(s) reduce aerodynamic drag, the opposite is true IRL.
He's saying it ain't happening because the game has been about realism and built for ground vehicles. To use it to simulate aircraft is a hack and unrealistic thus the devs aren't interested in it. Mods are there for that reason. I'm sure the devs would love planes and trains and boats etc... But they have a set plan and are sticking to it so it seems. --- Post updated --- Also... Airfields because every great racing game has long stretches of tarmac to play on!
Trains are an even worse case than planes. There are already some trains and AFAIK, a track pack that some maps use. But for there to Be a reason to add trains, there would have to be somewhere in the vanilla game for it to work. Atleast with planes, you can use the road technically.
Yeah, they do have those. I meant that atleast planes and cars are able to drive on most maps, even if they are supposed to be on runways and in air. Trains need something more specific.
