The new 208: The interior is certainly quite bold I gotta say that I am quite impressed with Peugeot's exterior styling for this generation. Its interesting that they have decided to make the most powerful version of the car an EV. Regardless, none of them are super quick, would be cool to see a proper hot hatch version. Perhaps in the 180hp region.
I found something that made me happy. A few places are selling rebuilt oldsmobile 403 engines it seems average price for a partially completed stock engine (long block, heads, and valve train) is 2K and a mostly complete engine with about 400 hp is 5k. I kinda dropped the 403 at first because of how bad mine was and I was dumb and didn't consider a crate engine, I also decided I can't do the 5 speed right now because of financial reasons unless I can find one that fits BOP and have the crank of the 403 machined however we have 4 turbo 350/400 automatic transmissions and 2 of which where originally upgraded to go behind a 455 olds, another is from a friend and was free and the last one was out of my car originally. Not as cheap as a 350 but far more unique and the 403 makes a ton more torque so probably a lot of fun as well. The major issues with a 5 speed swap I wanted to do where 1 the 403 crank needs to be machined 2 the 403 puts out over 320 ftlb of torque from the factory which is more than many of the common junk yard transmissions are rated for, this would force me to buy an upgraded unit from a place like American Powertrain and that would cost 3k alone so I think at this point in time I'd be better off with the auto since they can be cheaply upgraded to handle tons of torque.
Dang thats actually a great deal for somebody doing a restoration. There are tons of rolling shells of older cars on craigslist, toss in one of those engines and you'd be golden!
Our local dealership has decided the take the Land Rover approach with these modifications.. 2 Door variant of the first car:
Cars you won't see ever: 1999 Oldsmobile 442 W-46 Quad cam, four-wheel independent suspension, and dual exhaust. The W-46 option upgrades the engine to the full 4.6-liter Northstar (with 5-speed manual) and adds two functioning hood scoops. It's based on the Aurora, but lighter and with stiffer suspension. (This is actually an idea I had for a project car.)
Looks kinda elegant. I'm not sure that I will like the chrome trim next to the bonnet. I wasn't a fan when Citroen did it with the DS5, but it looks a bit more subtle here, so maybe in person it will look fine?
The previous Sonota had that though, which I prefer BTW. It looks too sharp for a Sonota, nor do I like how the chrome was placed. Also, the taillights seems to be too much like the ones on the Honda Civic, which kinda ruins the elegance the car is trying to go for.
We don't get these cars in the UK, so I haven't had a chance to see it in person. We get the following: Hyundai I40 (also available in sedan format too) Hyundai I30 Plus ofc some SUV's. We also don't get the Genesis brand either. AFAIK this is true throughout Europe, but I could be wrong.
Anyways, I just learned about this car. It unfortunately stayed a prototype, but does share similarities with the 262C Bertone Coupe (especially with the roof). This prototype hooked me from the second I saw it.
The I30 is called the Elantra GT in the US. Hopefully we’ll get the N version as well. Most car ranges in europe are pretty bland. The US has a few interesting cars in the mist, but it mostly just crossovers in the US. I love the new Sonata. It seems to be the best looking modest sedan on sale, next to the Mazda6.
I think it looks absolutely elegant. If Hyundai used those design cues on their other cars, they would look nicer. I'd like to see what the Palisade would look like if it had a few of the 2020 Sonata's design cues, especially in the front.
We might be getting the Sonata now as the i40 ages. Hyundai in Europe: i10 i20 i30 i40 Kona Tucson Santa Fe We used to get the Genesis, but it didn't sell. That's just EU Hyundai, non-EU European countries also get the Creta and Azera.
Who needs cup holders when you have a cup table? A much more refined dining experience in my opinion, and good for when you already have brown carpet.
