Just a little destruction to preview the BTR with the updated drivetrain and other things, but its still very WIP. Also I am greatly enjoying the Traffic Tool mod by @Gamergull (used in this video).
Quite probable in a future video So, here is some early progress on a new, scratch made 3D model. About one afternoon and evening of work in it so far. I'm making a few samewhat minor changes to the design here and there just so that I can call it my own. It won't be 100% accurate to a real BTR-80, but close enough (the original model wasn't accurate in some areas anyway). I'll see how it goes and see if I end up actually finishing this and replacing the existing model with my scratch made one. Only time (and a lot of modelling) will tell.
Yeah, thats the plan, at least a simple interior. That's one of the reasons I want to make my own model. I was gonna leave that as an eventual surprise, but since you asked...
BMPs are cool, but I definitely don't have any plans for one of those. One armored vehicle project is enough for me at the moment .
The model is progressing quite quickly as I got a lot more done after the teaser pic I posted. I'm not going to spoil anymore by posting any more pictures quite yet. The modeling will likely slow down a quite a bit though once I start making all the little details and parts around the outside, the suspension and other things. Also sorry, but there are no plans for private beta testing.
How about adding a movable propeller(made by collision triangles) and attach it to the transmission for a more realistic swimming.
That's an interesting idea. I'll see what I decide to do with the water propulsion system once I get to that point. I will be doing quite a bit of jbeam overhaul once I get the new mesh completed and in-game. Progress update: This was my first time scratch-modeling a tire with tread. It was kind of a pain but interesting nonetheless. Also finished the wheel last night (its kind of hard to see the shaping because of the dull material and bad lighting). Today I finished some of the last details on the exterior and have since started the beginings of modelling the suspension. After I get the suspension and exterior work done, I plan to get the new model ingame to adjust the jbeam and update some things. My new 3D model isn't exactly the same as the old one, which was proportioned slightly wrong, so I have to edit the jbeam shape some. Then, hopefully, I'll start work on the interior. I do not look forward to doing all the UV mapping for the entire vehicle. So many parts and little details
