1934 Imperial Airliner / short wheel base

During the 1930s, most advanced designing idea was so-called "water-drop" style, which had followed the lines from the nature. Many European models were result from this tendencies, for example Moravia T77 or even T87 models, which cues were stolen by Familiewagen corporation for its famous 1938 model, simple known as The Bug. Most models were RWD and rear-engined and were role-models for upcoming highway networks.
In the USA, Imperial Corporation shifted away from the conventional late 1920s models into the brighter, art-deco based utopia with this 1934 Airliner model.
It was first mass-produced unibody model in the USA, first water-drop model in the USA and first American model with, for 1930s terms, excellent drag coefficient (0.482 CD). Because of its unconventional design, it was favored by gangsters and artists, but not the ordinary Americans.
Its advanced, European-influenced design was actually too much for average American customer. Despite perfect PR strategy, the sales were at its peak in the 1934, and declined every single year up to 1937, when the idea was dismissed, and Imperial went back to more conventional models.
Unlike similar, European models, Airliner was technically conventional RWD, front-engined car powered by 4.0 L straight inliner-six.
Inspired by scaled-down Chrysler Airflow brother, the '34 DeSoto Airflow in terms of wheelbase and technical performance. Have fun! : )
