In the 1950s, Charmand decided to keep making their old B-Series van, with its aging-but-proven ladder frame and rear leaf springs, as their new economy car, the C-Series, was not too van-adaptable with its rear engine.
However, the B-Series got the new 780cc engine, which not only lowered the tax horsepower rating and fuel consumption, but also had more power (26 vs 25 HP) than the old sidevalve unit. It also got ordinary turn signals insead of traficators and front-hinged doors.
The redesigned car became one of the favourites of the French working man, and stayed in production until 1959.
