    1958 Vermouth Tribesman Custom

    The Story:

It's the late 1950s time. Europe is full of American and Soviet spies, and on the other side of Atlantic Ocean Americans are living their own dream. Most families have a "boat" of their own, the teenagers are listening to Elvis the Pelvis guy, the Hollywood lives its golden era and suburbs with quiet streets are center of the communities all along the USA. The cars? They're mostly inspired by futuristic Expo events and aims for better future. Probably in some settlements across the Moon.
Welcome to the 1950s! This car is classic example of merging two classes into one. The sporty wagon is born. As with the rivals, mostly Declasse (Chevrolet) and the Potomac (Pontiac), Vermouth (Plymouth) also developed one unique model of its own. Meet the Tribesman, based on the classic Belcanto wagon, but shortened to the 2.75 metres wheelbase.
The engine was borrowed from discontinued 1955 Belcanto trim (6.3 litres V8 at 60 degrees or 383 cubic inches / 208 bhp) and is probably the one of the thirstier 1958 models in terms of the fuel economy (24.3 l / 100 km). But hey, it's the 1950s, the gallon costs couple of cents, or even less.
During the designing, some Potomac engineers made their contribution, which is clearly visible on the car's rear design.
Until the mid 1960s muscle-era, this was probably most powerful Vermouth car. It could reach 0-100 km/h for 8.5 seconds and in basic trim it also comes with 3-geared automatic transmission with button operation (inspired by TorqueFlite transmission) with average speed of 187 km/h.
In the modern America, the car is one of the underrated 1950s symbols, but still very popular in the decade themed festivals, and unique collector's item.
In some underdeveloped countries, like Cuba, this car is unavoidable spot and it's still roaming on the streets in dozens of units. Mostly as taxis for tourists.
Inspired by 1958 Plymouth Belvedere (mostly), 1956 Pontiac Safari (rear side) and with slightly traces of 1957 Chevy Nomad. Enjoy!
