NOTES:
- This is my project to create a very realistic recreation of a typical early 1960s American sedan based on period reviews and excerpts from people that lived with them. Obviously, it is heavily based on the 1961-64 Ford Galaxie, one of my all-time favorite cars.
- It has a tendency to rapidly transition into oversteer which can make it hard to drive. I recommend using "oversteer assist." It's a bug I'm working on.
- For maximum immersion, I recommend tuning the steering lock to 720-810 degrees depending on preference, which translates into 4.0-4.5 turns lock-to-lock.
The Ellis Admiral was popular full-size car line produced from the late fifties to the early seventies. It was regarded as a durable and reliable vehicle, if a little dull. Enthusiasts and car journos did appreciate that Ellis hadn't completely sacrificed handling at the altar of ride quality as was the norm at that time. It's not a sports car by any means, but the ride/handling balance has a level of composure that allows the Admiral to sail over broken pavement without tripping all over itself.
This model, the Trimline V8, is the low level trim option with the base V8. The old H-Block V8 is a holdover from the early 1950s with all the hallmarks of that era. It's a durable lump of pig iron, but it's not powerful and it doesn't like to rev. It does make a nice sound, though. It's paired with a column shift manual and "economy" gearing (3.00 diff ratio). It won't get you anywhere fast, but it's not overpowered so you won't fling it into a tree or anything.
