1962 Tayga TAZ-611 "Kenguru" 1.0

A small, yet very capable Soviet off-roader.

First conceptualized in the late 1950's, the need for a cheap, small yet capable off-road oriented personal transport vehicle in the USSR became clear. This paved the way for development of the Tayga (then TAZ)-611, lovingly nicknamed the "Kenguru", meaning Kangaroo.

The reason for the nickname? Don't let the timid looks fool you - the Kenguru is surprisingly capable, and skips over rough terrain. With very tall solid axle suspension both front and rear, locking differentials, a low-range gearbox and four-wheel drive, it is not afraid to get dirty. Watch the mud though, as the narrow tires tend to spin on slushy ground.

Power is applied via a four-cylinder engine producing approx. 60 horsepower, leading to a top speed of 95 miles per hour (150km/h). It weighs less than a ton, and is excellent for surveying around gravel roads.

The "safety" features on the Kenguru are as good as non-existent. The removeable roof and windshield can come off quite easily in a crash (or by applied force), and due to the subsequent lack of a reinforced chassis, it's likely to snap over the middle. Crash at your own risk.

It's not very fast, but it's a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you for driving my cars!

Yup, seems the exported badges have broken again in automation! But you make some of the finest cars! Hope you can update some of your older ones too with the new lighting and whatnot!
