1964-1973 Boleslava Augusta Popular
Inspired by '64 three-door Skoda Octavia wagon, you know, THAT rusty wagon from "My Summer car". But my aim wasn't to recreate variant found in that game, but stock one, which was omnipresent in 1960's and 1970's Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary at least. The sedan Augusta was presented in 1959, but 5 years later the wagon, known as "Popular" was offered in closed markets of COMECON. Powered by 1.1 L inliner-4, this car was classic example of socialist "old-school" family car with RWD. Because of acceptable engine size, the fuel economy is slightly above average from that era (~7.4 L average) and it could reach up to 114 km/h.
Augusta sedan was last conventional front-engined, rear-drive Boleslava car (along with Popular wagon and 1202 wagon / 1203 van) until the late 1980's, when the FWD, front-engined Champ was presented. Augusta name was revived in the mid 1990s as an tribute to this classic lines. Have fun & enjoy with this underrated gem.
