1961-1968 Barjak 1300 Specijal / Luxo 1300 Speciale
Barjak 1300 Specijal / 1969-1970 Edition (1.50)
What's new?
Known visual glitches:
- Slightly improved handling
- Improved power (62 hp / 5000 RPM)
- Improved torque (95 Nm / 4400 RPM)
- Lower-grade 91 RON fuel (typical for late 1960s Yugoslavia)
- Realistic top speed: 154 km/h
- New, Zastava based paint job called Salomia Yellow
- New, maroon leather in the interior
- Better fuel economy (9.5 l / 100 km)
- More realistic 0-100 km/h (16.2 seconds)
- Dozens of visual updates...I think I've added more than 100 original interventions in morphing and fixturing (realistic headlights, taillights, indicators, custom-made grille, bumpers, mirror, to name a few)
- Custom-made Yugoslav 1970s plates
- High-definition Zastava 1300 visual experience. Engine stats are modeled after real-life Fiat 1300 stats.
- Gearing based on Fiat 1300 too.
- THE STORY -
- Sometimes plate text "disappear" for a very short time in random moments during switching between idle and driving. I'll fix it later, nothing game-braking experience.
- Rear braking lights are sometimes split on left or right taillights, depends on game map & spawning. They're positioned on real-life Zastava 1300 place. Also I'll fix it later if I've more free time, 'cuz nothing game-braking deal.
This car was also called "Corvair's smaller cousin" or later "The Yugoslav Benz", and was in reality in fact inspired by '59 Chevrolet Corvair, but with classically-mounted (front) englne.
So, in the late 1950s, Italian company Luxo had decided to make more conventional and boxy successor to the pontoon-styled 1400/1900 family. The Luxo Stile designing team was arranged, and they actually scaled-down Declasse Convair, RWD and rear-engined sedan, as some other European city-car makers did. But, the main difference was, as said before, conventional engine position and the taillights' style.
The trim had two engine options, 1300 and 1500. The Barjak initially assembled CKD kits from Luxo Torino main production line, then in 1966 brought license for the indepedent production.
In the late 1960s and through the 1970s, car had received minor visual updates, such as chrome avoiding as much as should, and also the more conventional indicators and even less stylish plastic parts in the interior. It was produced in more than 250,000 units until 1979, when the outdated design was replaced by boxy 128 one.
The 1300 mechanics had reincarnated in the Polski 125 or "Big Pole", which was made as a result of Polish and Yugoslav franchise, and with approval of the Italian Luxo bigger brother.
One of the innovation was also the frontal disc brakes introduction. Car was actually underrated in most European markets, but had gained a cult status in Yugoslav republics, as an directors', taxi or police first choice. There was even an wagon trim, which had combined 1300 front and 124 wagon boxy-styled rear. The 1300 was also exported to some countries like Egypt and Colombia in small scales.
