1971 Pinault 6 / "Mitostroj" edition
What's this?
Meet the Pinault 6, the Pinault 4's uglier and more modern brother. Pinault 6 is actually the mentioned corporation's answer to the updating of the rival Chevraux 2 from Avanti, called the Dianne. The P6's engine was borrowed from bigger and more powerful Pinault 8 (1107cc inliner-4), only placed in front compartment and transversally. The car was FWD and shared the suspension and gearbox mechanics with more popular P4.
Although it had boxy and updated design, it wasn't very popular, because it competed with the Chevraux 2 and the Dianne at the same time. Also the conjuction with the P4 also halved its production and sellings. But after all, it wasn't very unpopular car from the late 1960s and early 1970s. It was produced until the 1980., and got an facelift in the 1973.
Produced worldwide as the most Pinault models, from France to the Uruguay, from the Spain to the Argentina, from the Yugoslavia to the Morocco, it was actually very good alternative to the older P4, which traced back its roots to the 1961.
This one is "Mitostroy" (real-life Litostroj) edition, produced in small scales in Slovenia (then part of Yugoslavia) until mid 1970s. As the name says all, it's Renault 6, disguised as an typical French late 1960s wagon. Enjoy!
