A generic 80s Recreational Vehicle

To my surprise, nobody has yet made an RV in Automation before, so I decided to it myself. I based myself off of the first RV I could find on Google images, which was a 1979 Fleetwood Pace Arrow.

    The car in real life

    Specs:
    Panel material: corrosion resistant steel
Chassis type and material: galvanized steel ladder frame

    Power: 369bhp @ 5600 rpm (275kW)
    Torque: 634Nm @ 2700 rpm (468lb-ft)
    Top speed: 143mph (89mph)

    Drivetrain: 4x4
    Transmission: 5-speed manual
    Differentials: manual locker

    Tyre compound: hard long life
    Tyre size: 245 (F), 315 (R)
    Brakes: 170mm solid disc, 3 pistons (F); 160mm solid disc, 3 pistons (R)

    Power steering: hydraulic
    Aids: none (laugh)
Safety: advanced 70s (not that it really matters)

    Springs: progressive
    Dampers: gas mono-tube
    Sway bars: passive

    Camber: 0, 0
    Spring stiffness: 3.4 (F), 4.4 (R)
    Damper stiffness: 2.6 (F), 2.8 (R)
    Sway bar stiffness: 5000 (F), 5000 (R)

Unlike my other mods, I did not create this car with accuracy in mind. I just made something semi-realistic, while also being functional. (also couldn't find much info about it online)

The car in Automation (I'm aware it's not 100% accurate but who cares)

    KNOWN ISSUES:
As you might expect, this isn't an official Automation body, and instead a mod. Unfortunately, the vehicle is too big for Beam's physics to handle, which causes the front axle to break, and I am unable to resolve this issue, as it cannot be prevented by manipulating the Jbeam files (as far as I'm aware). However, it can somewhat be prevented,as the wheels will only break when steering at a high angle. Essentially, take the corners with ease, and no E-drifting.

For some reason, the indicators didn't export well, so they're just transparent. However, they do still function properly.

Lastly, not much of an issue, but I noticed the car is significantly smaller than expected. It's about the size of an H45. I am once again unable to change this, as I did not make the body.

Once again, I did not make this body and cannot eliminate any of the issues it has. I'm as frustrated as you are when driving the car, as it looks somewhat decent, but doesn't function properly. This problem might be resolved someday, when the BeamNG physics engine doesn't invert itself when driving unstable Automation cars. For the time being, I am sincerely sorry if you do not enjoy this car due to the axle breaking, but I am as disappointed as you are. If you have any suggestions for the car, or more importantly fixing it, please let me know.

Nice mod and the fix is very easy, also because i already did it myself to it!

Nice mod, also the front suspension CAN be fixed; I used the same method with some Automation trucks I made myself that had this bug.

If you open the "suspension_F.jbeam" file (in the "vehicles" folder inside your mod) and change the first 2 numbers (which is currently 3.3 for this mod's front suspension) of both values in the "hydros" group to a 0.5, the wheels will no longer break when steering at max angle.

Here's an image I made explaining it a bit more clearly: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10g5lbuD4cg6pl4EUgDHYiGbwNTY1Lr3T/view?usp=sharing

      Author's Response
First and foremost, thanks! I thought this would always be an inevitable problem.

However, I am unfamiliar with using Notepad. I can change the values to said 0.5, but I don't know what to do next - saving the file just opens file manager telling me to enter a file name and location, rather than replacing the original Jbeam file. I have tried saving the new version and deleting the old one, but that doesn't seem to work as file explorer just crashes upon deleting the file. Would you mind giving some extra information about this?

Regardless of that, I am really thankful you bothered to help me with this. People like you are what makes BeamNG's community so enjoyable.
