In 1977, after Discontinuing the problematic Gavard Rebel, the company was in need of a new entry level sports car, with the oil crisis and safety laws in full effect, they worked with Japanese engineers and automotive stylists for a new, compact, fuel efficient, safe, and cheap vehicle. While the stylists sculpted a sleek, appealing body, engineers worked with those at Gavard to develop a modern drive-train with a new DAOHC TBI I6. In 1979, this new vehicle hit the market, as the Gavard Medallion.
A quick run down of specifications:
3.7l I6, 160hp @5200rpm, 205lbs. @2700rpm, 6500rpm redline.
5 speed manual, gets 19.5 MPG, the car weighs 2600 pounds.
