The Audi Quattro (1980) Was a game changer in the rally scene. Bringing it's Quattro all wheel drive system. Audi dominated the WRC, racking up 23 wins with iconic drivers such as Michele Mouton, Walter Rohrl and Stig Blomquist.
Since the Quattro's introduction, only one non-all-wheel-drive car has won a WRC championship. The Lancia 037.
The Audi Quattro was promoted to cult following status (atleast in the UK) in 2008 in the British TV Drama "Ashes to Ashes," where the car takes centrefold driven by Chief Inspector DCI Gene Hunt. The phrase "Fire up the Quattro" becoming popular.
This build of the Quattro has been kept close to the original, carrying a similar weight and brake layout. The SOHC I5 provides identical power output with identical bore and stroke.
