In the late 70's and early 80's, the Gasmean Auto Makers found themselves losing sales to the rise of Japanese Cars. They were smaller, lighter, more nimble and had better fuel efficiency, and some were pretty darn fast as well for their lack of power.
In response to the sudden market shift, Royal Motors decided to change things up. Instead of trying to sell larger automobiles, they reverse engineered these foreign cars and made their own. From Calvinator came the Commuter in 1983. The commuter S4-110 was not the fastest car by any means, but it was a sleeper with a 42.6 ci inline 4 engine making 110 BHP at around a deafening 9000 rpm. Definitely not the ideal car for racing in. However, it was economical, and its high rev and low price made it popular among teenage and young adult drivers. And while it was not the fastest thing on the road, its top speed of over 110 mph and tiny engine made it a popular choice for car tuners.
In 1984, the HR-83 inline 4 was replaced by the HR-84 inline 6, a roughly 64ci Inline 6 making about 210 BHP. Slightly faster, but still, the commuter SR6-210 wasn't enough. Then in 1985, CRM made the 1986 CRM Commuter R10-350 Warrior. It had an AWD setup and a top speed of 165 mph. From there, they made a limited edition roadster and a RWD drift spec car.
