1990 Krüger W303 WSR 1.0

The 1990s were a decade of many changes, politically, economically, and socially - and also the decade where the idea of a fast sedan really took off.

Krüger sought to cash in on the action, and so commissioned car tuner WSR to make their 3-Series into a real hot piece of action. Some months later, the fruits of their labor were unveiled.



This is the Krüger W303 WSR, the absolute top-of-the-line in performance sedans at the time. The engine was bored out from 3.0 to 3.6 liters, horsepower topped 360, and its four-wheel drive system was oriented towards the rear for better handling (and more efficient powersliding). Its weight was reduced significantly, to approximately 1500 kg. The body was extensively refitted with a large, wide kit surrounding it. The front air dam was made bigger. The body was lowered, the wheels and fitment was widened. The tires were upgraded, the transmission strengthened, and a huge spoiler was fitted.

It went from a practical executive sedan to a car which some government agencies considered almost dangerous to the public.

All the changes made meant the W303 WSR was much, much faster than the standard Krüger 3-Series, and most other cars in general. Top speed was recorded to be in excess of 160 miles per hour, and its handling was much improved over the original. That being said, it still is a 5-seater sedan - meaning it needs some encouraging to go around corners, and especially loves powersliding.
