The 1995 PMI Dotai Fuga is the fifth general Fuga from the Japanese sports branch of PMI. The Type-B is the budget trim, and the least powerful.
A newly introduced 2157cc, sixteen valve, DOHC inline-4 utilizing variable valve lift and timing powered the front wheels of the Type-B and Type-A trims, with the Type-B using the naturally aspirated engine and the Type-A a turbocharged engine.
The Type-B was well-received due to its low price coupled with very good handling and good acceleration. The naturally aspirated engine produced 166 horsepower and 188 Newton metres of torque and redlined at 7500 rpm. Top speed was only 220 km/h, but that mattered little since corners and backroads were where this car was most in its element, with the driver slamming the 5-speed manual into gear and never even once taking off that smile of his face.
