2000 Calvinator Lisa/Kunoichi 1.01

The Last Calvinator/CJM Car before the company went defunct in 2000

  1. CNCharger
In October of 1999, the Model C went out of production due to complaints about the vehicle's safety and reliability. This left Calvinator without a flagship car. RMC's new CEO, Shiromoto Takashi, however, already had a car in mind. Designed back in 1997, the new car had to be less than $30,000, be a small, two seater roadster, and could go over 200 mph.

Enter the 2000 Calvinator Lisa S, or in Japan, the 2000 Calvinator Kunoichi S400 in Mid-December of 1999

Powered by the 2TC4 Sequential Turbo 2L 4 Cylinder engine, the car produced over 400 BHP and 290 LBFT of torque, sent to a 6 speed CT-6S Sequential. This gave the car a top speed of 217 mph, and a 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. This made the car certified faster than the 2000 Dodge Viper (0 to 60 mph @ 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 170 mph). It also had a fuel economy of 25.8 mpg.

With an MSRP of $27,999 USD in 1999 (today $53,203 USD), or 5,899,000 yen in 1999, the car was expected to sell atleast 100,000 units worldwide. However, Calvinator filed for Category 1 Bankruptcy (Gasmean equivelant to Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in the US) on December 19, 1999. The bankruptcy was finalized on January 8th, 2000, and only 213 Lisas and Kunoichis combined were manufactured, with about 21,000 chassis registered and ready for assembly.

Following the bankruptcy, while Royal Motors was still going strong as well as Calvinator Engineering Corp, Calvinator's other Parent Company, Calvinator reorganized and solely built engines for other RMC brands and Calvinator Defense Solutions, one of the sibling companies under CEC. Engines such as Calvinator's 2TC4 engine were in production till 2021, when the company came back with the Calvinator G1, which was shortly replaced with the G2 due to world wide part shortages.

Any Calvinators built between 2000 and 2020 were rebadged RMCs to sell more cars.
