RLS Vehicle Labs - Same-Axle Hybrid Tech Core 1.0

Free-Use Hybrid Technology for BeamNG Creators

RLS Vehicle Labs - Same-Axle Hybrid Tech Core
This mod is a free-to-use hybrid powertrain framework for BeamNG modders who want to build same-axle hybrid vehicles without starting from zero. It provides a reusable sameAxleHybridAssist powertrain part that can be installed inline on a driven axle, adding electric assist torque, regenerative braking, battery state-of-charge management, engine charging, EV/stealth operation, and selectable drive modes.

The system is currently demonstrated on the Scintilla, Bastion, and ETK K-Series using both front- and rear-differential hybrid layouts. These example vehicles include JBeam components for the hybrid assist unit, motor package, battery pack, startup mode selection, and a simple UI control button. There are no configs or flexbodies with this, just parts. The Lua core handles the hybrid functionality itself, including:

    • Electric torque assists under throttle
    • Regenerative braking during braking and lift-off
    • Battery charge and discharge simulation
    • Multiple drive modes including EV-only operation and my favorite, Bump Start
I created this project because same-axle hybrid systems have historically been one of the more difficult vehicle systems to implement in BeamNG. I used AI as a development tool to help build the initial foundation, then tested, refined, and integrated the system into working vehicles. Once it reached a usable state, I decided to release it publicly so others could learn from it, improve it, and build upon it.

I understand that AI-assisted development can be a controversial topic in some modding communities. My intention is not to replace the creativity, knowledge, or craftsmanship of BeamNG modders. Instead, the goal is to share a working starting point so developers do not have to repeatedly solve the same complex problem from scratch.

This project should be viewed as a foundation rather than a finished solution. It is not perfect, and there are undoubtedly areas that can be improved, optimized, or expanded. I encourage anyone interested to experiment with it, modify it, and adapt it to their own projects.

You are free to use this tech core in your own mods, learn from it, extend it, and create your own hybrid systems from it. Credit is appreciated but not required. The primary goal is to share the groundwork and help encourage more hybrid, performance-hybrid, and EV-assisted vehicle projects within the BeamNG modding community.
