'62 Auspex Commissar - Old School Luxury 1.0

A prestigious, comfortable land cruiser, from a golden era.

Coming from a time, when fuel was cheap, leaded, and plentiful, engines were big and didn't like to rev high, and cars were built like tanks, and had a soul. Enter the Auspex Commissar, a luxury sedan with a pedigree.

No fancy stuff. Carburated engine, OHV 2V, naturally aspirated 4000ccm I6 monster, putting out 247hp, with a meaty 377nm of torque, at only 3900 o/min. Quality build. Low revving, offering consistent power all the way up the curve. Guzzling leaded fuel like a camel does water, but if you own a car like this, fuel economy isn't your first priority.

Luxury is. And that, the Commissar has in spades. Gliding across all bumps like a cloud, thanks to it's heavy duty, yet comfortable suspension, with just the right amount of wobble to keep it from tripping up or flipping over, but not so much as to make it unwieldy. 4x4 drivetrain only complements that, eliminating all wheelspin, ensuring a smooth and predictable cornering experience, while also giving the car enviable off-road abilities.

This isn't just a road-cruiser. The high ground clearances, rugged long-life tires, low torquing engine, and heavy duty suspension makes the Commissar a very capable off-roader as well, handling on rough terrain like a dream. Tough as nails, because they built them tough in the 60's, collapsing the suspension on this beauty is near-impossible.

The last pic, is the Commissar after almost 13 laps of the Endurodrome. That's how long it took, to collapse the suspension! The radiator never gave out.

Speed and acceleration aren't a priority for a luxury liner, but that's not to say the Commissar is sluggish. Reaching a hundred in 9.3 seconds, and topping out at 210kph top speed, she can certainly keep up with any flow of traffic, on any road.
