Experimental Aegis MRAP | Armored Truck 1.0

Adds a heavily armored MRAP version of the MD Series to BeamNG

  1. 4NT4R3S
    Overview
This mod turns the Gavril MD Series into an MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) truck, which is a heavily armored military vehicle designed to survive large explosions. All of its important components have been modified to be resilient to blasts, extreme impacts and attacks, totaling up to an approximate 30,000 pound curb weight depending on the model.

    upload_2024-10-27_21-52-51.png

It is intended to behave and deform like a real MRAP, at least as closely as it can while still retaining its fun factor and playability - However, don't expect it to be perfect, this is an experimental mod after all.

Above is a head-on collision between an Aegis and a solid wall, traveling near its top speed (~95 MPH). Its front was completely totaled, but its cab has remained nearly unscathed, demonstrating its ability to keep its occupants safe in extreme circumstances (while it's strong, you probably wouldn't survive this one though...)

    Lore
Gavril has always been a relatively general company, specializing in a multitude of industries, building everything from sporty muscle cars to enormous tractor trailers. However, Gavril also perceived a quickly growing market for heavily armored vehicles, a small niche that very few manufactures were involved in, despite many militaries and security groups looking to expand their fleets. With that realization from their research team, the executives at Gavril called a board meeting, where the prototype of the Aegis was presented - an MRAP vehicle based on a heavily modified MD Series platform. The idea projected appealing sales figures, and received positive feedback from the organization almost unanimously. It was quickly sent to their engineers to start developing the blueprints for the Aegis, which were finalized and saw production a year later in Gavril's new plant, dedicated to military vehicle construction, located in Belasco City. Using their substantial resources and skills in mass production, Gavril was able to create these vehicles much more efficiently than their competitors, allowing them to claim a large portion of this market. They received multitudes of contracts between militaries, police departments and private security groups, who commissioned nearly 5,000 units in total within the first year. It was especially well-liked by such organizations due to easy access to parts, since the Aegis is fundamentally an MD Series. This also means it retained its reliability and interior comforts, such as air conditioning and heating.

Known Bugs/Notes (Please read before reviewing)

    - Extreme/awkward impacts may bug the game out and cause the Aegis to reset itself. This is due to the nature of the vehicle, as it is pushing the game engine to its limits.

    - Some vehicle might get stuck to the Aegis, but it has been optimized to mitigate this.

    - The JBeam for the rear bed looks a bit odd, nor is it perfectly aligned with the model due to technical issues, but it serves it purpose.

    - The diamond plate texture on the bed is slightly misaligned

    - The suspension might make a sustained shuttering noise if it is damaged very heavily

    - The stats in the vehicle selector are NOT accurate (It weighs close to 30,000 pounds, still figuring out why it says 66,000)

This mod is very interesting, and it can coolly diversify the gameplay. I will be glad to see something similar, but on other models.

This thing is wicked. I saw it on Camodo's channel and it's amazing.

As far as the weight - it makes me suspicious if, somehow, the game thinks the weight is 30,000 kg. That would equate to 66,000 lbs.

Thanks for the review! It's about 30,000 lbs, not kg lol. My next mod might be around there though...

super fun to hoon even lol, it actually is suprisingly fast and can pretty much hit anything and drive off still, i drove it around 40 into a bridge that was too small and it bent the rear axle horribly but still drove fine

I'm a huge fan of Military and Police Vehicles, I've been searching a lot for armored military/police vehicles. I somehow found this, I'm so happy that someone made it. Thanks alot bro! Also I installed your Swat Armored Truck config too because you know I'm a huge fan of those kind of vehicles. Hope you plan to make more of these.

Haha thanks, I've been waiting for someone to add armored vehicles like this for a long time as well, but nobody did so I just took it up myself lol. I might do some more in the future, maybe an RCV based on the T-Series.

This is amazing! I'm genuinely loving the fact that we now finally have a modern US armored vehicle. Although I do have two questions. Firstly, do you think it would be possible to make it work with the single cab or maybe even the six door mod? Secondly, do you think it would be possible to make a different upfit option for one that isn't rounded, maybe even one that is enclosed as well?

Thanks for the kind words! I could definitely armor with the single cab, but I'd have to get permission from the creator before working with the six door one. The upfit sort of has to be a bit rounded to fit the massive dually tires, but as mentioned in past replies I might look into working with the ambulance upfit when I have more time.

the only unrealistic part here is that the MRAP would break *through* the wall instead, lol. fantastic mod, this is what i was craving since the Stambecco's mod.
