I just needed a simple clock - a bit smaller and smarter as the vanilla one...
Now it's become a multitool with lots of functionality. Some of them exist allready as vanilla apps but I recreated them together into one to prevent too much screen coverage. I refrained from big graphic design so it's lightweight, but it shows many usefull informations at one glance in one place.

It's mostly self explaining but if you want to read more here are many further details for you:
Every line of text has several modes. You can cycle through them with left mouse clicks. Some modes have extended functionality. Trigger them with a right mouse click.
Line 1: Clocks
Line 2: Speed
- Mode GAME: The daytime in game within your current level
- Mode REAL: Realtime of your operating system (often mostly same as outdoor)
- Mode TRIP: Triptime: Counts the time you really move any vehicle. Right click to reset. TIP: Moving a vehicle through a replay also counts, but unfortunately slow motion does not influence correctly.
Line 3: Altitude
- Mode V3D: Velocity in 3D space. It's like a GPS measured speed (including vertical motion). If the speed falls under 1 km/h but stays above 0.1 km/h it will call it "slow"
- Mode VMAX: The terminal speed you reached in 3D space with any vehicle. If the speed rised above 0.1 km/h but didn't exceeded 1km/h it will be called "slow". Right click to reset.
- Mode ACC: Measures the acceleration from 0-100, 0-200 and 0-300 km/h of the current vehicle. It works completely automatic. All you have to do is flat out from zero. If this mode is not displayed measuring will be suppressed. Right click to reset.
- Mode ALT: Measures the GPS altitute of your vehicle
- Mode ALT rel: Same as above but relative. Right click to set it to zero.
Line 4: Fuel and Energy
- Mode FUEL: Shows the remaining fuel in litre. IMPORTANT: If the vehicle is electric or even hybrid it shows the truth but in this case think of a litre being a kind of energy amount. It is the total of all remaining energy. So one litre means the same as one kWh in this case. Note: Shown in braces is the maximum capacity of all energy storages in sum.
- Mode FUEL%: Shows the remaining of any kind of combined energy in percent. A hundred percent means the the maximum cpacity of all energy storages (same as above).
- Mode AIRFUEL: This mode can not be selected manualy. If the vehicle has airfuel (actualy as a data stream) this will be recognized and shown as remaining in litre. The fabulous DG-100 glider with it's gasturbine is an example.
Any fuel display mode starts to flash if the level falls under 5%
Line 5: Temperature
- Mode WATER: Shows the coolant water temperature in °C.
- Mode OIL: Shows the motor oil temperature in °C.
The app will change the mode automatically if one coolant gets too hot. It will start to flash if one of the coolant temp rises above 115°C
Line 6: Weight
- Mode WGHT: Measures the vehicles weight in kg with the help of the tires' (to ground) pressure in realtime. This is absolute exact so if you loose a single side mirror this will be recognized. Any spoiler or downforce producing elements will also come in account when you drive fast. The number of measured tires is displayed in braces. Obviously if the vehicle has no tires this strategy will not work. If the vehicle stands on a slope, the measurement will be influenced - the vehicle seems less heavy. IMPORTANT: If the vehicle has support gears like a trailer only the part of the weight pressing on the tires is measured. Same is if the trailer is attached. The remaining part of the weight presses on the towing car's tires and is measured there. (Change the vehicles to see it). The maps gravity will also be taken in account.
- Mode MASS: The mass of the vehicle in kg. That is the mass of all nodes of all parts of the vehicle which is defined in their jbeam files. It is shown as a static sum. So if you loose a part this will not count. Earth gravity will be assumed.
- Mode G-Force: Shows the vertical force acting on the vehicle. Downforce producing elements, wings, jumps or fast driven depressions in the road come all in count. A g-force of 1 is earth. Less is upwards, more is downwards.
Interaction is possible even if the game is paused. All modes work with replays, too (like the vanilla speedo). I decided to implement only metric units. All measurements and mode selections will be saved on your harddisk across gaming sessions. You can easily find them at this location:
[Your-BeamNG-User-folder]/settings/BSGT_clock/settings.json
If you like to start from scratch for whatever reason simply delete this file.
Known Issues:
Plans:
- The font size is fixed. Size the app to fit everything if something is cropped.
- If spawning a new vehicle sometimes the acceleration mode gets weird. In this case simply reset. You can also delete the settings file as named above if you encounter complete nonsens e.g. after game crash.
- Some modes count along when the game is paused while the vehicle was moving.
- The tool can not handle slow motion (till now)
I will implement a low pass filter on some modes to reduce too much flickering of digits. Maybe somtime I will bring in exact distant measuring (for offroad navigation), relative fuel consumption (for races), give the ingame clock the ability to change time and... ähm... the super smart personal stopwatch?
And hey, if you like to support me do not hesitate to send a donation via KoFi. It would make me glad...
