Experimental Bell 407 Accessories 0.1

Some extras for an already great helicopter

    What is it?
It's a pack containing a few helpful accessories for the Bell 407:
    • Auto-tracking spotlight/camera
    • Dial-a-yield (DAY) rockets
    • Crane hook
Awesome! How do I use it?

    Crane Hook
The crane hook is just like the tow hook, except that it can lift the same loads as the TGS crane. However, there are some loads that the crane can lift that are too heavy for the helicopter. To use the crane hook, select it in the parts selector:

The crane hook is available for all versions of the Bell 407.

    Dial-A-Yield (DAY) Rockets
The DAY rockets are just like the stock rockets except sliders have been added to increase their explosive force and explosion radius up to 4x their defaults.

Warning: Increasing the explosion force too much can cause instability.

To equip the DAY rockets, select them in the parts selector:

Please note that the DAY rockets are only available for the "new" Bell 407 rebuild. The previous revisions of the 407 were not equipped with weapon mounts.

    Auto-Tracking Spotlight/Camera
    screenshot_2025-10-12_12-06-51.png
This is an advanced spotlight that can track other vehicles and continue pointing at them. We were thinking about calling it the "High Beam 9000", but that was too cheesy.

First, equip the auto-tracking spotlight/camera by selecting it in the parts selector:
    PartsSelect_AutoTracker.png
The auto-tracker is available for all versions of the Bell 407.

Second, map some buttons or keys to the vehicle selector functions of the auto-tracker:
    SetControls_AutoTracker.png
"Cycle Subjects Fwd" cycles through the vehicle list in one direction, and "Cycle Subjects Rev" cycles through the vehicle list in the other direction. The spotlight itself is switched on and off with the same controls as fog lights.
    • The helicopter carrying the auto-tracker will never point the auto-tracker at itself because that doesn't make any sense. However, it can point it at other helicopters if that's what you want.
    • The auto-tracker initially points straight forward, its neutral position. As the player cycles through the vehicle list, the auto-tracker will rotate to point at each vehicle as they're selected. The neutral position is included as a selectable position if the player cycles past the end of the list.
    • Once a subject vehicle is selected, the auto-tracker will rotate as required to continue pointing at the selected vehicle. The auto-tracker can rotate up to 3 radians (171.887 degrees) left or right of straight forward, and it can rotate up to 1.5 radians (85.944 degrees) down from the horizontal. All angles are relative to the host helicopter.
    • The auto-tracker is also equipped with a camera. The camera is attached to the front of the unit so that it points in the same direction as the spotlight.
    • Pilot the host helicopter smoothly for best results. The auto-tracker has a good control system, but it can only do so much to smooth it out.
