Born in 1959, the Birmingham Sabre (And it's Coupe Utility cousin, the Cavalry) was originally a luxury sedan, with a mid-size V8 making around 220 horsepower. By 1965, the market had shifted, and people wanted a brutal muscle car - Enter the Sabre GXT. With it's big V8, sporty wheels and emphasis on acceleration, the Sabre was an instant hit.
