Beta Champion 2 Rally Hatchback 1.0

Group B-level rally car.

  1. Frooby
    Champion 2 WRC TT Ecoboost
Commonly referred to as simply the Champion 2, it was the second car created by the university-run engineering initiative Champion Engineering Applications. It was designed as a running prototype in 2006, before being featured in an episode of critically-acclaimed car show SuperGear, at which point investors and car collectors expressed a desire to buy and own them due to its stellar time on the show's test track.

Champion Cars was set up the year after in 2007, to meet the demands. It was hand-built to order alongside another in-house CEA creation, the much bulkier and less desirable Champion 1 SUV, for a rough price of $80,000. It proved its value exceeded this, however, when independent teams began using the cars for rally racing. Its 4-cylinder box engine was underpowered, but its handling was accurate and controllable, with its ability to powerslide around corners finding success in the public eye. An upgrade was clamoured for, to make it viable for the top level of the World Rally Championship.

The result was the WRC TT Ecoboost, using a V8 equipped with Ford Ecoboost technologies to keep emissions to a street-legal level. The TT marked the twin turbochargers also added, giving this compact two-door a level of insane power in such a small and nimble chassis that could only match Group B rally cars. It sold in incredibly limited numbers for a homologation run during 2012, having sold roughly 460 over a five-year period at about $105,000 new. It was immediately a success, either winning or podium-finishing almost every major rally and rallycross series in the world since. Not only that, but its crisp white-and-green livery coupled with its crazy fast handbrake powerslides around corners made it a firm favourite with fans and audiences that could behold it.

Here is quite possibly my favourite Automation car I ever made. Not only is it quite nice-looking (in my opinion), but it's a blast to drive, I haven't had so much fun tearing up rally courses with any of the stock game rally cars.

I bet this will set record times on your own courses, be they road or track. I'd love to see you post the results in the comments, and do let me know what you think about my car as well! Thank you for looking!
