"Gambler 500... I haven't heard of that yet" he said. Marvin has been sitting around with his buddy Eric on a Saturday evening. As always, they were chatting and having a barbecue in his garden. "You gotta check it out man, the cars there are crazy!" Eric told him. "Your uncle has a junkyard, doesn't he? And you're almost done with your apprenticeship as a mechanic. You gotta see this as a chance man!"
And so it began. Marvin got a go from his uncle to build a car that would be perfect for this Gambler 500 Event. He looked around the yard and right around the last corner of stacked cars, there it was: a Chevrolet Corvette C4, seemingly a car that has been in a flood and the owner thought it wasn't worth rebuilding anymore. It hasn't been sitting around for too long, but the interior was too far gone. The suspension was damaged too and the only thing that was left was the engine, transmission and the body.
With a paradise of used car parts sitting right in front of him, he got to work, spending days and weeks on this car. Cleaning the C4, rebuilding the LT1 engine, making a new suspension out of some truck parts, crafting a 4WD setup to replace the old RWD setup and making a new interior. With two extra spare wheels in the trunk, fuel canisters and fire extinguishers strapped to the roof, Marvin got done with this American Beast a few weeks before the official start and by that, had time to test the Gambler and tweak anything that wasn't how he liked it. The total cost after being done? $489.87. Right below the $500 top.

Now, this sure has been a ride. I learned how to get better at Automation building and details just with this single build. Sadly I won't have any more time to finish the car completely, but I did change some things to make the experience with the car better. This includes:
- more accurate taillights (no more salmon colored lights)
- custom V8 engine sound from the vanilla racetruck
- custom made and accurate C4 badges since I couldn't find any; each contain about 55 fixtures
- quite a lot of fine tuning to make the car handle better in the off-road terrain
- Last minute quality changes in version 1.2
Right now, at least for me, it does not show up in the in game repo for some reason. It does work via the subscribe button on this page though.
A little preview of the car:
To finish this off, I want to thank the BeamNG and the Automation team, as well as Gambler 500 for this opportunity! I wish all the other participants best of luck, stay safe and keep being creative!![]()
