Beta DriverTech's Hopper Crawler Upgrades 4.0

Better Geometry for crawling with the hopper 4 link suspension!

  1. DriverTech
This Mod is a reworked and upgrade to the hopper suspension for the crawler 4-link setup

This mod changes the geometry of the suspension links to create a more stable and more capable crawling rig!

The mod adds a custom frame, front and rear suspension, and a cut skid plate to accommodate the new mount locations for the suspension links.

    How to Use:
Load in a hopper with the crawler frame
Select the "Triangulated 4-link Crawler Frame" as shown below
    Screenshot2022-05-16123307.png
If it spawns without Suspension, simply add it in the parts menu where you selected the frame.
Also recommended to select the custom skid plate added to the mod to prevent any weird or un wanted behaviors.

    OR

New Custom Config added with all the new parts installed, and setup with a baseline crawler tune!

    Enjoy!

    Front Suspension:

For those Interested to the exact changes made to the suspension, the front suspension had the upper links centered more on the axle, and the lower links got slightly longer and centered on the frame side, to better triangulate the suspension, as well as remove the need for the panhard bar (trackbar)

the rear suspensions top links got moved closer to the axle on the frame to get less anti squat, and the lower links got lengthened and moved closer to center on the frame

This is great, really punches the hopper up. Fuck you, super-pig.

    I was wondering about rear-steer.

    I'm using this: https://www.beamng.com/resources/hopper-rear-steer-crawler-axle.18327/

I don't really know how this works. I mod ARMA a bunch but I don't know fuck-all about beam.ng mods. With ARMA, you can usually use other mods to modify yours, require it as a requisite, and be done. I'm not sure this comment helps. But, a rear-steer option for this frame would fucking slay.

Thanks for your hard work, it's killer.

Thanks for the Review! Glad your enjoying it!
As for Rear steer, It is planned for the future, The way Beam modding works you can use parts from other mods, however I had to use a custom frame to change the geometry, which makes any other suspension mod incompatible, unless they specifically make it to work with my Frame

So Rear steer is on my list of improvements for the mod, I have a new Update coming out on the 19th, so rear steer will have to wait until after then, I Might be able to put it in as its own mini update

Thank you Again for the Review and I'm glad your enjoying the hopper!

    Nice mod.
Could you also strech a bit the wheelbase in the front? Or maybe make it adjustable

      Thank you!

I will definitely consider adding a stretched wheelbase version in the future, likely as another option under the parts menu!

I'm still very new to modding so things such as LUA scripting to make it adjustable just isnt something I can do at this point, but its a great idea!

      Thank you for the feedback!

While it does look quite good, you can even see in the Picture that the Driveshaft works with Bluetooth and also still clips with the Skid Plate a lot

I've never run into any bluetooth driveshaft issues. I dont see why that would happen seeing as I only changed the link geometry, and not the axle position in anyway.

and yes sadly there is some clipping, I will be improving this mod at some point in the future, but right now I just wanted to get it out as I along with others felt the hopper needed this kind of rework for a while.

      Thanks for the feedback!
